Going away and can't water my plants!! Any suggestions?

Hi there,

I've got two plants under CFL's that have been vegging for nearly 6 weeks. I water them every 2 to 3 days. I'm planning to head out of town for 6 days next week and I have no one I can ask to water my plants. Has anyone encountered this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions that would keep the plants from drying out?

small water pump, simple timer, and some dripper stakes. set the timer for 5 min drip per day and you should be fine.

easy and cheap.

Use a milk gallon jug. Think needle poke a hole in the bottom. Fill it up, cap it, then poke a think needle hole in the top. Gravity will drip it out over 1-3 days depending on your hole. You can test it by filling it up and leave in your sink. Check after a few hours. If it goes down too much, make a smaller hole.

The more expensive option is water globes. Sold at hardware stores, fill it up and stick it in. There may be other globe like auctions. Go to Lowes and tell them u r leaving for 2 weeks and need something to water your houseplants. they may have a good idea in stock.

The milk jug thing I have done many times and its free. The plantastic link will get you what u need in 2 days or less.

I am a little corfuzzled by your bump.

Your best bet is an aquarium submersible water pump a big bucket, timer and an irrigation drip kit. You have 6 weeks of growth going, dont risk it your work with a make shift feed system. Water globes will work but Ive seen them fail. Gravity fed systems can leak or flow too much without timed control.

I agree with some guy. But he posted he didnt want to buy a pump. You can also turn your lights down to reduce the water loss.

And sorry passerbye, I was just trying to bump this thread up higher, but now because I wanted a better answer. Just looking for other ideas. So far the pump suggestion sounds the best... however, in the interest of cost and simplicity I may just go with a gravity system. I've got enough time between now and leaving that I can test it out.
