going on vacation

i am leaving on the 17th and will not return for 7 days. my plants are scheduled to be chopped within the next few days. my concern is that i don't know how i should dry them because i will not be here and will not be able to moniter them. best i came up with is to just hang them the whole time with an indirect fan on a timer. i thought about not using the fan but my guess is the temp in my drying area would be very warm that week and maybe a bit humid. also i am going to have to tell my mother about them because she's the one who's coming over to feed the damn cat all week. at least i know she won't rob or rat on me. does anyone have any suggestions? the timing of this vacation is fucking up my dry and my perpetual but i've never been where i'm going.

Sounds like you ca get a week of hanging your plants done whilst your still around.

Maybe, if your mum knows/will know anyway, you could jar them, and get her to open the jars daily when she comes to feed the cat, and close em up again once she is ready to leave... I'd imagine your buds would get about a half hour of fresh air everyday, this way.

Good luck dude.

I will run into the same problem. Anything out there that you can buy? autoburpers? They sell a million things to grow and trim your bud but nothing for the 30 days of mold fearing dry/cure.

my mother will probably accept that i am growing but she will definately not participate, and the only firends i have that i would remotely trust to do this are coming on the trip. what is the worst that would happen if i just left them to hang the whole time (which may come out to 2 weeks total) and then jarred them when i got back? can they get "too dry" in that amount of time in 50% humidity? i never harvested in the middle of summer before.

They can get too dry, but this can be rectified!

Once you get the weed in jars, throw in a few stems of fresh parsley or lettuce. Anything with a neutral taste/aroma, with a high moisture content.

These will moisten up your buds again.

Take care not to overdo it, or this will result in mold.

How much further can you push your harvest date?

Move the plant under a few Fluorescents so growth is slowed down somewhat, so you can keep it going longer?

No idea if that will work... Never tried it.
How much weed do you plan on harvesting? Where are you going to and how will you get there?

If you have just a little bit of bud... Maybe you can throw the jar(s) in to a bag, and carry them along!

Fun times for all!!! :eyesmoke:

just pull the plants roots and all rinse the roots off with water then hang them to dry maybe only have the fan on the plants for like 6 hours a day maybe 2 hours at a time if your timer allows that. and if you hang the whole plant to dry it will dry slower so you wont have to sprry about over drying

going to be driving to canada. from where i'm at the drive is about 18 hrs and will be leaving canada on the 7th day. i should end up with less than 3 oz dry. if i wasn't going over the border i would probably just bring the jars along and tend to the cure. usually i harvest in fall or winter and have smaller buds (always used floro till now) and they always took about 6 days to dry in the very arid winter air in my house, so i'm thinking in the summer humidity with fatter buds i can maybe have them hang that whole time with a timed fan. maybe 30 minutes off/15 on or something. i never tried the root ball way. it does sound like it would take a lot longer to dry that way. i'm leaving next saturday the 17th and i think i can take them till about tuesday max before they have to be cut.
