Gonna try an Experiment with Trimming Leaves

so i have been wanting to remove a few fan leaves, but im afraid of effecting the plant so im going to try an experiment.

i have 2 plants, sweet tooth, vegged 8 weeks, starting week 6 of bloom, im going to trim just one plant, nothing crazy just 5-8 moderate size fan leaves, and maybe again later on. well see what happens, and ill post pics and statz of the outcome. obviously this is no definite answer on that nagging question, strain, conditions, etc all factor in. but at least it will give me an idea. and post any noticeable changes, if at all.

Trimming fan leaves is the dumbest thing you can do to a budding plant. The buds do not collect light on their own, the fan leaves do the light collecting. Removing the fan leaves halts the growth of your buds.

If you want your buds to stop fattening, remove the fan leaves. If you think your yield is too big, remove some fan leaves....it will stop growing.

does this include the branches and leaves lower down and the ones going dead low on the plant?

Actually, responding with a narrow minded opinion that WASN'T asked for, is Dumber in my book. feel free to stay tuned in, other than that i didnt start this thread to hear every blowhard to harp on his OPINION. btw, i don't know if you realize this, but mj tends to be covered in fan leaves. i have trimmed the shit out of the same strain throughout the entire flowering period in previous hydro grow ago, under 1/ 1000 watt light, i yielded 6 ounces from each, even though i had delt with some serious ph issues, so there goes your logic. i however understand that each strain and environment is different, and so will the results be. you must be related to "homebrewer"...

can you show me some pictures/records of your own personal experiments that lead you to your hypothesis about removing leaves ?

or is this "knowledge" something you read somewhere and felt the need to regurgitate ?

so who's done a similar experiment, and what were ur results?
well why not do the experiment yourself .. then share your results here .. i am still waiting for thumbsuckers results .. so at your own leisure

a few pics of some of my well pruned plants below .. i remove a great number of leaves and thin branches

i control the shape of my plants by pruning and bending i grow plants close together pruning allows for a more even yield of colas in my garden

if i were not to remove the leaves i would produce less colas and less yield

i have observed this for myself by allowing some plants to keep all their leaves
these plants produce less colas and more popcorn buds

try for yourself .. maybe you will be breaking a few mj purist stoner laws like you said before, but hey, who gives a shit right lol :joint:

I always remove a few fan leaves from the tops of my plants to let more light penetrate further down into the plants to some lower bud sites. Doing this has allowed me to yield a gram per watt in my garden...

how could i not, you're that first member i think of when it comes to people answering questions that weren't asked;)
That's because you guys are asking the wrong questions and seeking solutions to problems that stem from a lack of knowledge and experience. I'd be happy to place you on my ignore list if you'd like.

who is asking questions ?

anyway
This all seems to have descended into some kind of personal dispute, no debate here ... pfft

ive seen your momma's basement grow, and i wouldn't list experience as one of your qualities.you can't even read, pay attention to detail or make sense for that matter. for instance you last post, you are saying that you answer questions that weren't asked because we ask the wrong questions and seek solutions that...blah, blah, blah" what the fuck kind of response is that?? your like a walking scrabble game, you just respond with some dumbshit that irrelevant of the thread focus. ignore list? how about skipping past a post every time you feel like regurgitating some shit some fan boy wrote on the internet.

Insulting people with 10x your experience isn't a good way to hone your completely misguided growing practices. Welcome to my ignore list ;).

wow, them girls look nice skunk. Bottom line is every one has a different opinion because every does thier thing different. From a logical standpoint, these things have survived much more with much less for millions of years. They are covered in fan leaves and as long as you don't go ape shit crazy, at a critical period, they should be a tad bit hurt but fine as long as u stay out of the 6-7 week. i did trin a few on my last the whole flowering period, only fan leaves that were crucial to light exposure, i felt that this helped a lot considering i was having ph and nute lockout issue (piece of crap DM calculator), i was in the process of doing the same to my current sweetooth grow when i decided to do a side by side and see how much of a difference it will make.

well why not do the experiment yourself .. then share your results here ..
I am skunk, that why i started this thread, lol. check out the first post
