Good enough to flower?

Hi all! It's been about 2 months since I started this plant (among others) and I'm wondering if it's worth it too flower, or wait until it gets bigger. I'm using cheap soil, distilled or tap water, and miracle grow AP plant food every other watering. I have about 14 CFL's (mix of 6500(27w) and 3000(23w).....I have 9 other plants under the 14 lights also. The soil's PH is about 7.2. I'm getting a little impatient because it seems like it should be bigger for 2 months old. My other plants are about the same height as the one pictured, but not nearly as bushy. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

The only one that can answer your question of should you flower now or not is you. It depends on what you want and also if you can get that from your setup. If you lack the needed lighting to adequately cover your growing area and to cover it deep enough there is no reason to veg longer because you will get little to no production from the lower parts of your plants so vegging longer only adds time without enough additional yield to be worth waiting.

If you have your CFL'’ spread around at different levels it will of course help but if there are not enough spread around it will only mean less overall production so you are still not going to get as high of a yield as you could so again there would be no reason to ‘out grow/out veg’ your lights.

It is like someone who flowers with a 250-watt HPS. There is no real reason to veg past about 10 or 12 inches because as the plants grow in flower they will outgrow the light penetration, and coverage area too if there are more than about two, so vegging longer doesn’t add enough yield to be worth the additional time you wait to harvest.

Sometimes it just makes sense to flower when shorter. Everyone cannot grow big bushes and trees with their setup and trying to do that will only get them a lot of green with very little bud production much of what is gotten is very fluffy or is popcorn.

The call is yours to make.

I'm hopefully getting a 400 watt HPS/MH light sometime soon.......but I'll take your advice and bud now. I haven't really noticed any real growth in a while also. They must have reached thier limit. I'll start my next round with the HID. Any kind of rough estimate on that plants yield.....say if I had 4-5 CFL's dedicated to it?

I'll tell you that I flower when they're smaller than that. Like mentioned above, I use a 250w HPS & feel that if I keep them below 10" in veg, then I get great buds that I can manage. It looks like you've got a lot of nice bud spots. A little bush like that will do well. Did you tie it down to have it grow like that?

Do you think it's time for a bigger pot? I use 12" pots when I switch to 12/12. That may have something to do with it slowing down. It's worth the investment in good soil too, once you try ProMix or Ocean Forest, you'll never go back.

It looks ready to me, good luck!

Yea, I used twine to tie it down in different spots. I was actually thinking pot size may be an issue. I'll probably transplant them right before I flower. As far as soil goes, I'm dying to get my hands on some ocean forest. I should have some soon.
