Good Strains (not good hype) ???

I'm wondering what are your favorite old time, still available strains I'm a big fan of known stability and genetics, there is a certain appeal to getting some of the newer unstable strains (mainly you can stabilize your "own" strain) but I really like knowing that the same dank seeds I grew 10 years ago are going to produce similar if not better genetics with my new 2012 pack compared to what bought in 2001.

I've read for years how the Cannabis Cup is bought by the big names (GHS and BF recently) and isn't a good representation of whats good out there. I've been on here since December and I must say that it seems many of the forum users also fall prey to the "more money paid, more hype is made" marketing scheme.

Free Seeds are an awesome way for companies to get their names out there and if you are a first time buyer/grower you have nothing to compare to so it is a brilliant ploy and hats off to those in marketing, but the smaller fish just can't afford to donate 1000 beans to use as a give away.

I've noticed also the companies that spend the most seem to get the most threads on here. GHS and BF have plenty of threads out there, but I notice a lot of people are not happy with their end product. TGA has a LARGE Weed Nerd following online and I'm sure that collates into sales again brilliant marketing.

I'm not saying there are not new good genetics but I do suggest not hopping on the bandwagon with every new "exclusive" strain like Liberty Haze. There is a reason Serious and Soma and Shantibaba are still around, hell Simon at Serious hasn't put out a new strain for 10+ years (correct me if I'm wrong) but still has top notch, top grade strains.

Jack Herer from Sensi ala 10 to 12 yrs ago is great. Diversity in the the pack from this poly-hybrid but most were good. I have no idea how a pack from Sensi Seeds would compare today. Then the reputation of this strain is diluted amongst he many Co's that have made their knock-offs.

Totally agree I've had JH probably 10 - 12 years ago and at the time Dank didn't come around much don't think I was growing yet, it was like no other. If I were to buy that strain it would be Sensi's version, but you're right would love to compare someones old cut with a new batch. Even elite strains have their variance, I believe Warlock (one of Magus strains) is crossed with pre2000 Chronic, I would hope that most strains are being improved upon over the years rather than diluted.

I hear ya though, if you get a Jack H. clone you have no idea no what it is, same with AK 47, White Rhino, White Widow and many more, if I'm going to run these strains I'm running em from the original companies.

I was a HT Cannabis Cup judge in Amsterdam in '94 when Sensi released Jack Herer into the wild... literally by throwing thousands of seeds into our crowd of 800 judges. JH won that year. Wish I had some of those original beans today :-)

Problem is anyone can recreate JH (based on it's linage) but not everyone has the time or patients or love for perfection to run hundreds of seeds select, breed, select breed, you get it...

Here's a relative newcomer than has impressed me more than anything else in the last 5 or 6 years -- "Kushage"
from T.H.Seeds. Got my first bean as a freebie from the 'Tude 2 years ago and the strain has been wonderful.
It grows 6 or 8 side-branches that grow right along the main cola. This means you get more large colas in a smaller area.
I veg her gor 4 weeks and she finishes between 5 and 6 weeks. Nearly pure indica this is the strain for folks having
problems cloning. I harvested the first freebie bean, re-grew her and took 30 clones while she re-vegged. 90% of
her clones are pushing big white roots by day 6 or 7 in my dome. I can't say enough about this strain. I usually shut my operation down in
June every year to go fishing but this year I'm sneaking a couple seedlings of my treasured KSG strain into the woods to
keep it going.

white widow is probably the most classic one, ive heard of it for so long and when i looked it up i saw why. in the top 10 most potent strains and always a good choice

Yes but who's white widow? Mr Nice is the original WW, they renamed theirs Black Widow is that the White Widow you speak of?

Oh man that must have been a blast being a judge that year. Showered w beans... great marketing ploy!

DQ - are you running TGA Dairy Queen?? How do u like it? I'm sitting on 10 beans.

For me I would say Mr Nice SSH, haze x nl#5, mango haze, and Nelvile haze. Kali mist was a great smoke also. Serious has two new strains. Warlock and Double Dutch. I haven't grown them though. Sensi's jack herrier has really gone downhill, a real shame. It was the first smoke I ever had that I was blown away by.

Although a newish strain, I really like jack the ripper by tga. I am very impressed with the more sativa pheno.

To date mango haze is still my favorite.

Best seed stock to breed with; mr nice seeds chimera, and paradise

Best to crack for fun - tga , Tom hill seeds,Kingdom organic seed...

Best strains: mango haze mr nice , deep chunk Tom hill, iron Cindy KOS, any chimera, ...

I am, I've harvested my first generation of clones now (2 harvests) so I feed I have a decent handle on the 3 phonos I have (popped 5 beans and now after 2 harvest I've narrowed it down to just 2 females I like).

I have the cheese pheno, short bushy stinky as shit

What I believe to be Space Queen pheno, double serrated leaves saliva looking leaves, stretchy, low yield, smaller buds, smells and tastes like snaffle lemonade.

Then I had a tall saliva cheese that I trashed it just doesn't fit my canopy, cheese cut grew to about 3 ft, this guy would have been 5 but I had to chop him at week 4 of 12/12 because I currently run an 8bulb 4' T5.

When you pop them let me know, I will help ya anyway I can.

I don't mean to sound like a prick, Serious has not launched their new strain yet (Tested by Simon as 'Serious 6'), however Serious did take over the Magus Genetics beans, which seem to all have a little of Serious genetics in them. Magus: Double Dutch, Warlock (I want this bad) Exile, Motivation and Biddy Early (I believe).

Man, I'm actually growing some original Panama Red and Acupolto Gold out as we post, and those are about as classic and awesome as it gets... They have heavy trich proliferation, only in week 5 of flowering, and are chunking up nicely, and these are longer flowering equitorial sativas too, so I still have a good 6-7 weeks left, as oppossed to the shorter flowering indica dominant Master Kush's I have alongside them as well... I love the classic "throwback" strains, and the lovely percentages Ive gotten back from labs who have tested some of this Panama Red at upwards of 25% THC, 1.92% CBD, and 1.08% CBN... So, the medicine's definately in there, and apparently has been for many moons... One of my old hippie friends has only ever grown Pan Red, and the seeds he gave me have about the most stable genetics I've ever seen... But, he's been backcrossing for the best phenos for over 20 years with this ONE strain, tho... hell, I oughtta call up Soma or TGA, and see if they want to get some of my seeds...lol...

Jack Herer was discussed a ways back, but Sannie's F7 of the strain was not mentioned. Just picked up a pack, so I can't relate my experience, but my research indicates quality dank and not hype. Genetics are very stable, and being F7, it is suitible for breeding.

I also picked up some Chocolate Rain from Escobar (also on Sannie's site), also having a great reputation, though it is an F1 (Dna Chocolope and Cocoa Kush from Dj Short).

Sannie and partners' strains are inexpensive and low on hype-- definately worth adding to any collection.

I sure would like to get my hands on some of the old-school Blueberry from the northeast side of the country, and some of that Pre-'98 OG, and also some of the original NYC Diesel... Those would be excellent additions to my line up... I'm also interested in the Ladyburn 1974 and Vortex and Tangerine Dream I've been drooling over...

Heard that abe... I wanna get outta my neighborhood for the same reasons, plus more privacy in general... I'd love to have a few outdoor beauties on the outskirts of some property on out somewhere, as well as keep up a nice indoor op...
