Gorilla Glue Auto Fox Tailing and Other Issues

Hello everyone. I’m growing in fox farms ocean forest soil using their trio of nutrients. I water with PH 6.5 And temp and humidity are 75/40 respectively. Using a 400 watt cob from diykits. The plant was doing very well and then the leaves started to turn purple 2 weeks ago.Once I upped the nutrients (phosphoru)a little bit the purple stopped but then the bud started to develop what looks like fox tails to me. Also, the bups used to be very plump and now they look like they are actually shrinking somewhat. The new fox tails also keep sprouting white pistols. Should I chop this down or let the fox tails finish. The trichomes show there’s still some grow time left but these fox tail things seem like they won’t quit popping up. Please see photos for more details. Thank you to all.

WHAT CAUSES CANNABIS FOXTAILING?
Foxtailing can be caused either by genetics or by stress. If you’re growing outdoors, any foxtailing is almost always due to genetics. Some strains of cannabis are simply more prone to developing foxtails.

Indoors, however, foxtailing can be caused by light stress during the flowering phase. In this case, plants start developing foxtails in parts of the flowers that are too close to the light source for too long. This is most common in setups with HPS or plasma lighting. Plants with this kind of foxtailing usually also have bleached or burnt tips or buds as a result of the heat from the grow light.

Thank you. I’ve read that and I am certain that light distance is not the issue. It does look like I have fox tails right?

yep, there foxtails, i dont know if gg4 suffers from it as a strain, but there deff foxtails
i don’t mind it if it just looks weird. when will they stop popping up? Should I let the fox tails ripen before harvest? Seems like they just keep coming.

Also, I retract my statement about being certsin that light stress is not the issue. I didn’t mean to come here for help and refute the advice. I only said that because the lights haven’t been lowered and plant hasn’t gotten any taller. The light has been a constant yet the last 2 weeks this started. I can’t dim my light anymore and I’m comfortable that the height is sufficient.

yeah, keep them in flower untill they colour up. its a trait of gorilla glue so dont worry about it, its prob from the sativa in it

Some strains seem to have a genetic predisposition to foxtailing. This is a natural trait in many sativa strains and many strains we grow have sativa genetics in them.

For example in the strain GG4 AKA Gorilla Glue foxtailing is fairly common. Let’s have a look at the genetics in this girl. Gorilla Glue #4 is a mostly sativa variety and a cross of Sour Dubb x Chem Sis. You can check out the full genetics line at https://en.seedfinder.eu/strain-info/Gorilla_Glue_4/Unknown_or_Legendary/

A quick look at the genetics shows Hawaiian and Chocolate Thai in the genetics which are sativa dominant. There is also Skunk in the genetics which carries sativa genetics too. In fact Thai is known to foxtail naturally. So with a genetic mash up like GG4 has it should really be no surprise to see foxtails show up in this strain
