Got a layer of foam in my reservoir

Just mixed up a batch of nutes...they have been sitting for about a day...my pump went out I have a white foam in the reservoir. I cleaned the reservior with bleach/h2o mixture, rinsed, and air dried b4 adding RO water and the nutes. Could be ther micro bacteria in the nutes or something else? Dump it to be sure and make another batch? Any help would be great.

List of nutes:

House & Garden A&B
Cal Mag
Silica Blast
Fossil Fuel
Trinity
Drip Clean
Roots Excelerator
PH Up

Ebb & Flow... Plants are about month old. My pump went out why the nutes have been sitting for a day. Didn't have a bubble stone in the res either. Res was just sitting with lid on (2 holes for the pump and drain) not much light was getting to it. Hope this helps

That's a lot of nutes for month old plants. Month from seed? Month from cut?
18/6? What the res temp?
About a month from cut. 24 hrs on. They r doing great...I have had them for a week grown few inches and roots busting out of the 4" cubes I put them in about week ago. Res temp today im assuming was around 70-75. Was sitting in my hallway waiting while I was at work. Got the pump but when I popped the the lid here tonight had about inch of foam on top. So just wondering if that is normal or should I just dump it.

House & Garden A&B- Main Nutes
Cal Mag- Cal/Mag/Iron Sup.
Silica Blast- Stronger stalks/branches
Fossil Fuel- Humic Acid
Trinity- Complex Carbs
Drip Clean- Just to help with deposit build up in my res
Roots Excelerator- Self explantory
PH Up- To bring up to 5.8-6.0

Take a minute and go through these pics.

Notice the dates.

Popped some beans in the vermiculite,,,,

Tap water and ph down.

Tap water and ph down

Tap water and ph down

I wanted to repeat that a few times.

So what do you suggest...just go throw my shit in the trash?! And btw unless your fingers have a stuttering problem no need to type it 3x! I don't have any problems with the plants just res! And why would you spoil a fat chick? LOL

I'm just stating my opinion and like all the others it could stink, or not.

Too many additives going in too early. I have used a root accelerator in the past.
Tap Water, Root accelerator, ph down.

I have NEVER used ph up, Tap that has degassed for a day or two will raise the ph

R/O
That's a bitch to manage. You strip out all the base minerals and then have to replace them
with all the additives,,,,,

I'd keep the res temp below 73. 75f is a bit warm, imo.

Again, just my opinion, not razzing or ragging ya.

Relax,,,,,

Don't throw anything out. You have to figure out the formula that works best for you.

But start easy on the feeding, breakdown what you are feeding them. Lot of sugar I'll bet.

ppm should be 250 to maybe 300. Watch the girls reaction.

I repeat the important stuff so it sinks in mantra style,,,,,,

And we are trying to determine why your reservoir developed the problem,,,,,, I saw a Temp and a ph reading, no ppm reading and the ppm will tell me more.

i'm trouble shooting in the dark with no pics.

btw

Didn't have a bubble stone in the res either

so it developed the foam without an air stone,,,,,,,

somethings brewing? a reaction between one of the additives
when they get too warm? Like a yeast?

Yeah looks very similar to when I brew beer. I posted pics.

Sorry BB57 just been a long day

BB knows his shit dude.

My advice is to get an EC meter A.S.A.P. From those pics I'm seeing a lot of stretch and some nute burn.

When I started out initially I had no idea what EC/PPM was. I was putting the recommended dosages of nutrients and additives into the res without considering the consequences of adding the extra salts and acids. It turns out I was feeding at more than 3 X the strength they should have been at. While the plants still grew, they were stretched, thin and weak.

Does it smell like rotting eggs?
I would highly recommend aerating your res. From the look of the foam, that water could be stagnant. Standing water = Bad.

Are the roots slimy?
Did you add sugar, honey, molasses etc?

No problem,

I know what those long days can do to our brainpans when we're staring at
a problem. Scratching our collective heads.

Just looked at the brew shot.

Listen to RustyC,
I saw his post on the bottom first.

ECM/ppm meter.

I have an EC Meter...and you are correct reading was like 1900 & Temp was around 80! Way too much... I have a stone just didn't put it in due to my pump crapping out. Going to get one right now from the hydro store. No it doesn't smell like rotten eggs...more like beer. Yes the Trinity has molasses in it. The Nute burn was there before my buddy gave me the clones. He went out of town for few days and his Ph got down to like 4.4. The Strech you are refering to...Tall one is heavy sativa strain and other 2 are heavy indica...reason one looks a little lenky. Roots are nice and white and are busting out of the bottom of the 4" cubes I have had them in for about a week now. I'm just going to dump it and talk to the guys at my local hydro store and see what they have to say.

Thanks for the info.

Check your meter. I have to multiply the reading per the instructions.
when my meter reads 065 it's really 650 ppm.

Not sure which neter you have though.

bb57

When I talk to my guys at the hydro I go in and tell them what I want.
Many have tried to sell me chit I have used and failed, claiming it works.
I don't buy advertising, I don't trust skinny cooks and when it comes to this Plant
I don't trust those that don't grow da bomb.

Takes time to get this right. Or as close as you can get to right.

41 years Outside and 10 indoors and this Plant still has much to teach me.

And I'm a learner, by doing and FAILING and figuring it out til I have it manageable.

Actually 950 ppm just got back from hydro store. Talked with couple people there and they think it's the Trinity which contains molasses. They all said that they all got foam when using the Trinity in their hydro nute mix. Suggested I just mix a gallon or so and hand water it that way. I'm just using the same nutes as my friend who gave me the clones...only he doesn't run Trinity.

I appreciate all the help and info!

Ripout of all of the responses about this thread, none of you morons addressed the issue of what is causing the foam. Just answer the question as accurate as you can. from what I have read on this thread no 1 should be giving advice yall sound like idiots
