You should seriously look into getting in the environmental business. There is a huge demand for talent, especially young people that can get paid less and move if necessary.
My bro got a degree in geology. I got him a job out of school at a client of mine who does enviromental soil and groundwater testing. He started out operating a geoprobe, which is a big, or small depending on the job, well drilling machine. It's exactly like a water well, but a smaller diameter. They pull out samples of the soil, or drill into water, and take samples. They are tested for contaminents, like gas and oil, and all sorts of shit. Every commercial property for sale has to be tested, because if you buy the property, you now own the crap in the ground.
Anyway, you move up from there, and he now is a consultant. He stands around while the drilling is done, takes the samples to the lab, then produces a report about the findings. There are endless opportunities in this field........I wish I could start over.
There is no such thing as unemployment in this field......its actually growing as fast as the economy is failing. Trust me......it's the place to start!
