Grapefruit Kush - CFL, LST, Topped closet grow Aussie Style

Hey there, starting this journal so i can get help and tips as i go along with this one, and to keep track of things for myself so i know what to do differently next time. Every grow is a huge learning experience for me, I've grown 2 indoors before with just bagseed i had, this is my first time trying to grow a "brand" seed.

The seed:
Bought this single seed home with me when on a trip overseas. Its a hybrid, ive only grown unkown sativas in the past. bought this seed:http://www.vancouverseedbank.ca/product.php?id=855&n=Grapefruit-Kush-Single-Feminized-Seed&r=mn
Ive heard its hit and miss when ordering seeds into aus so as u can imagine i was like a kid in a candy store when at all the weed and seed shops in vancouver!
Would be great to hear some thoughts on this strain from other growers. pics, tips, reviews, anything would be great. I was smoking a lot of Bubba Kush(?) wheni was in canada, is this comparable?

The Closet:
This thing is just in an old chest of drawers that i removed the drawers from and put an MDF door on some hinges. its not the best looking thing in the world but has proven successful in the past.
the light is home made and consists of:
1 X 48W Nelson Superior 5000K CFL
1 X 48W Nelson Superior 3000K CFL
2 X 24W Phillips 6400K CFL
i have a hygrometer in there and the humidity is usually around 60-70%. im not sure if this is good or not...?
the case has a 100mm computer fan intake down the bottom and a 100mm fan again at the top for exhaust. ill invest in a desk fan to blow the leaves around in there a bit more soon.

The Medium:
Im using Scotts organic potting mix with about 35% pearlite. i Also added some blood and bone to it and then ph'd it to 6.6 with some lime.

Watering/Feeding:
I started feeding 2 weeks ago with half strength Yates Thrive all purpose. My feeding schedule is 2 watering days, follwed by 2 feeding days, each with a 2 day break in between, dosing the plant with 500ml of water/fertilizer solution each time pH'ed to 6.5. this isnt a strict schedule though, if the pot is heavy or the top inch still feels moist ill leave watering til the next day.

Training:
I let her grow til the 5th node was just sprouting and then pulled it off, trimmed the bottom 2 nodes and fans off, and then folded down 4 ways with wire. yesterday i pulled the tops off all 4 new growth ends. The plan is to scrog this thing eventually, so my aim is to create 8 equal "top colas" then flip the switch and train her to a screen.

Im in 2 minds as to how to flower this girl. i can just use my existing box with the cfls, maybe add a couple more 2700K's OR i can veg it here and then move it and flower it at a friends place under his 400W HPS lamp. What would the difference in yeilds be with this sized plant under a 400w hps compared with say 200W of CFL light. is it worth the hassle to move the thing later of should i just keep her in her box?

any help, advice, props, criticism and comments appreciated!

I like the way your training it. looks good by the way, i wanna do allot of training for my outdoor grow this summer.

Here she is, just 5 weeks from seed. It's filling out nicely now, ill veg it for another week, then switch to 12/12. You can see the size of the grow area in the pics so i think she's almost ready. Plus im due to move out in 7 weeks so i will only have 6 weeks to flower before having to pack up. The seed company claims 50-55 days for this strain so 6 weeks to flower should be spot on.

The training ive done looks the "nicest" of all my grows so far. I think ive finally got the hang of topping and training now after 3 plants. The nice, evenly thick 4-way stem for even nute distribution to the plant and 20 evenly tall and well spread out bud sites so far.
I have not done any defoliation yet. I had done on my previous scrogs about 4 days before the light switch, but this thing is growing evenly and nicely and the bud sites are all poking there heads through to the light as they should be so i think ill let her be.
Its already got such a nice smell to it, and the purple and green through the stems and leaves are just beautiful. Im loving this strain, cant wait to see how she flowers!

1 week into flower now. i pulled a few clones off her 2 days before changing the lights and there is some visible stretching and pre flowers now after 1 week. i also added 2 more 24w 2700k globes to the mix. hopefully she starting showing some nice hairs in the next few days it really does smell like grapefruit already.

16 days into flower its looking nice. a fair few bud sites, white hairs showing, pleasant smells already. should start looking very nice in the next few weeks.

20 days in i have made a few modifications to the area that i am very happy with.
here are some pictures of how she looks now, im getting leaves that are turning yellow and falling off already. is this normal this early in the grow?

i have removed the screen now. is this ok? the stems are supporting themselves nicely in a little tree like shape.
there is way more room for ventilation and growth now without anything in the box anymore, a much more pleasant environment i think.
the lighting has been substantially uprgaded too for a very low cost!
what im now running is 4 X 48w 3000k cfls and 2 X 24w 2700k cfls for a total of 240w of cfl power.

please let me know what you guys think about removing the screen at this stage, how the plant is looking health wise, what the yellowing leaves are telling me and how much do u think she looks to yeild in about 3.5 weeks time.

so heres an update.

this is her at 47 days. i had a few problems before getting to this stage. i had to re-pot into a bigger pot as it was getting too big and losing lower leaves rapidly.
i then had a brief aphid infestation and i ended up trying chilli and garlic and onion spray and then a yates rose aphid spray a few weeks ago. shes all recovered now but i think it did take its toll.
the breeder has this thing finishing in 50 days but i think ill leave it an extra week as it looking like its still putting out healthy white pisitils and the buds are thickening up now for sure.
looks like the yield will be a little disappointing but the loss there is made up for in experience gained from another one about to be cut and harvested successfully!
the buds look and smell delicious and im glad to say the seed lives on with plenty of healthy clones that i gave away into the weed-community!
