Grapes In The Emerald Triangle?

I have 3 acres cleared and wanted to know...

the estimate is 4000 -6000 grape plants 3 feet apart.

I have a 500 site cloner that I built for grapes.

Do vineyards give cuttings out or sell cuttings in ~BULK~?

Any grape heads on the forum?

ask around im sure you can find some cuttings somewhere, grapes are a huge bitch though, esp the first few years in the colder climates- and with the number of vines your talking i hope you have a full time staff on hand- cause there is no way in hell- you can manage this yourself.

don't know much about grapes..have always heard the first 2 harvest are garbage then they take off...why not put those 3 acres to better use with a plant that pays itself off by fall?

I have no idea what to plant.
A napa guy said grapes take care of their selves and are easy but I have ~Nobody~ helping.
I just have drip line and a mix tank and thought they could grow happy for a few years.

I guess putting in 200 apple, Asian pear and pear would be smarter.

~EDIT~ I found the local viticulture group that has said they will assist me.

If you want to make wine with it I would get different kinds. If you have it around there you could go to your local nursery and see if they have any plants. To be honest I would only buy a few and clone the rest your self and save your self some money heck even grow some indoors as moms.

but this really sounds like a good reason to join a wine forum, or a grape growers forum.
I don't see you getting the specialized answer to EVERY question about grape and wine you have here.

I have to agree with you Bean but...

1 - There might be people here that grow it for eating and wine and such making.
2 - He might have tried to look for one but couldn't find one.
3 - He wants to share what he's doing with us.
