green algae

My set up is a 2x2 flood table w/a 400w mh/hps on top and 2 t-5 2x4's on each side.I have developed green algae in the bottom of the table. The plants are very healthy and green still, and are in flowering. The root system is amazing shooting thick roots out the bottom of my mesh pots well over 6''.The problem is im a little worried about the roots. They have turned dark green close to the pots.I dont believe it is harming my plants because they are so healthy looking. Is this the result of the t-5's on each side? Too much light on the water? Should i somehow cover my flood table and not let any light hit the rooting area? Is it affecting growth at all? My nutrient solution is oxygenated at all times too. Thanks

I never remember reading anywhere that algae is totally harmless, I always thought algae was harmful to roots. I would try to get rid of it before it gets worse!!

can the plants be taken out of the tray? if so just clean the tray every so often in my experiences with algae it never harmed my plants in any way i just clean the tray because i like it clean i would assume it could get bad if the tray was completely over run with it but a little algae has never hurt my plants at all.

It is a direct result of light getting into your res. Should be kept dark as possible to prevent this. It is detrimental, not to mention annoying as fuck. The only way to get rid of it is to clean it all up by hand, getting all you possibly can, return the plants and cover the res so it gets no light.
