Green Dragon Question.

I have never made this before but would like to try. My question is, I just harvested a El Dorado plant and do I need to let it FULLY dry before using it in a recipe like this? I have seen baking and or microwaving as one of the steps in the recipe and wondered if that applied to a plant that isn't fully dry yet.

What? I may have misunderstood you. Your drying your bud in the microwave? I have heard about drying the really small bud in the microwave to help you impatient mofos. I would dry it completely as well as cure it. So yes needs to be completely dried and cured.

Sorry for the confusion. I am not drying in the microwave. One of the recipes I found instructs you to microwave already dried and cured bud "Microwave *dry* weed on medium 3 x 20 seconds with cooling time in between. This converts THCA (inactive) to THC (active). This process is known as "decarboxylation." The question I had was If the weed is still moist from being harvested and I was planning on making green dragon with it, could I just skip the curing step and just use it still a little moist. Just for the sake of this recipe. I know how to properly dry and cure whatever I plan to smoke.

I've made Green Dragon with dried (but not really cured) bud....it was awesome, much stronger than expected. Never did it with fresh (un-dried) material, though. If I were you, I'd let it dry for at least a few days after harvest, just to get SOME of the moisture out. I don't think you really need to CURE it, though...just dry it.

I used to mix my GD with V8 (reg or spicy hot)...seemed to mask the chlorophyll taste of it to some extent.

It not just that the weed is wet. It's green. It's still full of chlorophyll (among other things). You need to properly cure it to fully extract the potency of your weed. your weed needs to sit in the dark for at least three weeks so the chlorophyll can break down and the thc is fully "developed."

Microwaving can destroy the potency of your weed as well.

I dont disagree with you........ HOWEVER..... I have yet to see anything that shows microwaves destroy THC... GRANTED I know using the microwave works to decarboxilate already dried-cured weed but I dont know if it destroys the thc..I would need to see proof before saying it destroys the THC.

Technically you are decarboxilating the pot anytime it is allowed to sit in open air with a little bit of heat.

The idea is to active thc with a heat source, such as lighter, vaporizer, stove(canna butter), etc. I have eatin super small quantities of weed thinking it would not an infact not causeing any noticeable effect. Even though that's that, I would think that if I consumed a-more I would indeed become 5 Oclock traffic like with common Tetrahydrocannabinol effects. So maybe no microwave required. I know I'm not. Actually, Im making a shots worth of it fot tomorrow with some stuff.

How did you make your green dragon?? I took and oucne and a half, ground it up fine, and put it in a fifth of 151 proof Ever Clear. At 19 days, i took off 12 ounces and evaporated it to 6 ounces, the temperature of the green dragon never got above 155 degrees F. the next day i took 3 tablespoons of it and it really didnt do much more than take away the pain in my neck and my back. it didn't even make me tired. didi do something wrong?

19 days isn't long enough, number one, number two, you didn't decarboxilate the THCA. If you are going to do a cold extraction, after you ground your herb, place it on foil and on a cookie sheet and place it in the oven for 20 minutes at 250 degrees. Some will go for 10 minutes at 325, but I don't trust thermos that come with ovens and 325 is a bit close to the evap point for me. A cold extraction should be sitting in the dark, shaken up once or twice a day, and allowed to sit for a minimum of 30 days.

Yep, like he said ^^^^^^ 19 days maybe wasn't long enough. I let mine extract for probably two months at room temp in a closet, didn't shake it every day, maybe once a week or so. Sorry, I really don't remember how much bud I used, or even exactly how much grain alcohol I used (probably around 6 oz...it was pretty concentrated)...it was just an experiment at a time when I harvested a bumper crop and so had a lot of "extra" herb around. I definitely dried it in an oven for maybe 30 min at a low temp, I think around 250 or 275 deg...cooled it, then ground it with an electric coffee grinder and placed it in a jar with some grain, stuck it in the closet and shook it out every once in a while. Also, I never evaporated any of the final solution, it came out a deep deep green, kinda cloudy solution just by a filtration thru a coffee filter.

First time I tested it my buddy and I each drank 10 mL of GD in a glass of V8 when we were at a friend's wedding reception...thought it wasn't gonna be much, but both of us were high as a kite about an hour later. Probably never been more stoned in my life, and the buzz lasted a lonnngg time, I was still high the next morning at breakfast. Several weeks later I tested smaller doses on my own and discovered I could get a nice healthy buzz with just 2-3 mL, lol. That was one CRAZY night, ha ha ha, good times
