Green Shit In The Soil?

IMG_0234.JPG as you can see. there is some green thing inside the pot spreading across the soil. My plant seems fine with it and it has been there for a good week. Has it just not spread enough to do anything? or will it simply be fine to allow its
coexistence with the lil fella.

Not seeing it myself. Algae will often grow on the soil surface but doesn't seem to hurt anything and often goes away by itself once the plants get big enough to shade the soil. A light spray of peroxide kills it effectively if it bothers you or just washing a little plain water over the top after feeding to get nutes off the surface gives it nothing to feed on and it doesn't grow.

Hard to tell from the pic. I've had fabric pots grow mold before. 3 parts water 1 part 3% h2o2 in a spray bottle will take care of it. Don't douche your leaves with it, it's fine on the soil and pots.

Try to relax. The main cause of plants dying with new growers is too much TLC. They're tough little buggers and as long as they get decent light, water and food they'll do fine. Always find out for sure what might be going wrong before doing anything drastic. A spot on a bottom leaf or two is rarely a big problem. Spots on lots of leaves probably is.

Greetings, I, me would wrap the clear containers with black plastic or something.

Algae will compete with the plant if it gets out of control. Certain types of algae will engage in 'warfare' with plants for nutrient and light space.

Diana walstads aquaponics book talked about this some. (Rel)

Good luck.
