Let me welcome you to my 2nd grow!

Set-up: Will be the same, 250w HPS cooltube in a converted closet; 6x3x2.
If the temperature will go down in a couple of months, I might add some extra CFLs or Fluros.

Strain: Barney's Amnesia Lemon and Tangerine Dream

Soil: Plagron Green Mix (pH: 5,8 and 6,2. EC: 1.4 and 1.6.)

Nutes: Undecided, the available lines here are Plagron, Advance Nutrients, GH Bio Sevia and Canna... I'm open for suggestions.

Gameplan: To scrog the 3 best suitable phenotypes

I chose these strains cuz I've sampled them in Amsterdam. I was impressed by the taste, and getting the full aroma out of these buds is my main objective for this run.

Ok, I didn't research any Tangerine Dream and Amnesia Lemon grows when I bought them in the 'Dam.
So when I got home, i was like damn! These TD's are unstable! Most people had like 0% germination rate. And flowering times going way past the promised 70 days.

But its too late, I already germinated 3 Amnesia Lemons and one Tangerine Dream.
All three Amnesia Lemon seeds cracked within 2 days. The Tangerine Dream took 3-4 days.

The Amnesia Lemons have a 4 days head start under the light over the Tangerine Dream.

Day one for the Amnesia Lemons: September 5
Day one for the Tangerine Dream: September 9

So here some current pictures. The ALs 12th day, and the TD's 8th day.
I'm not sure if you can tell the pheno at this stage already, but this TD does have some small leaves.

Amnesia Lemons - Day 18
Tangerine Dream - Day 14

Temperatures: Days are getting shorter and colder over here. Temps in the grow closet are peaking at 28C/82F, so I'm good with that.
RH: Avg 45%

Two days ago, my Amnesia Lemon #1 (#1 because it was the first to crack) showed some holes on the leaves of the 3rd node. A day later, the same holes got larger, and another small hole on a newer leaf.
AL #2 and #3 were unharmed. I checked for bugs with my pocket scope.... negative. I posted this in the Sick Plants section, and someone said it might be a pH problem. I water with an avg of 6.5pH, so I dunno. Hope I dont have Gnats feeding off its roots!

Also the roots of the ALs started poking out so I transplanted them in 6.5 liter pots (1.8 gallon), watered with some Canna Rhizotonic, which helps when plants are stressed due to transplanting.

An hour ago I topped the AL#1 on the 5th node. Hope I did it right. (last picture)
AL#2 and #3 will be fimmed when the new growth grows some more.

Change of Plan

I looked into more Tangerine Dream journals and consulted with someone who had a successful TD grow and he thinks my pheno is the one that takes 110 days to flower. So i'm like fuck that! I would have welcomed the challenge of handling the stretch and all, and truth be told, the TD looks better than the ALs at this stage. But 110 days?! Luckily my friend who just set up a 600w HPS grow will adopt it =).

So let me know if theres a way to change the title of this thread.

Amnesia Lemons - Day 20

I think I know now where the holes come from:
I caught a fucking fungus gnat in a bowl of water under the pot! I got me some yellow strips too to catch more of these bastards.

But besides that my ALs must be going thru another problem. The leaves of the ALs are curling up and down. This happened after the transplant, so there's a possibility that the Plagron Grow Mix is too hot for them.

Or was it the Canna Rhizatonic which I added to the water after the transplant? I thought Rhizatonic is harmless, as it just contains vitamins and hormones which help prevent shock.

I wonder if I should flush, or let them get used to it.

Anyhow, I still fimmed AL#2 and #3 earlier.

I did a Tangerine dream grow over the summer. I did 3 plants. The one that I took at 70 days had all cloudy trichomes, but turned out weak and flavorless. I wound up making hash with it that was just ok. The one I let go to 80 days had about 5% amber trichomes. The one I harvested at 87 days appeared past-peak. If I had let them go 100 days, I think they would have rotted on the vine, so to speak. None of them turned out great, but it was a summer grow and I fought heat and humidity through the grow. I don't think the genetics lived up to the hype, but I did a poor job of growing, so I can't exactly pass judgement.

I have another Tangerine Dream growing right now. It has been flowering for about 60 days and appears to be about 2 weeks from harvest.

Sorry the pictures are bad. I only have the 2 HPS lamps in there and no CFLs, so it's hard to see color.

The plant in the pictures is experiencing cooler outdoor temperatures, as opposed to the high humidity, high outdoor temperatures in my area for the previous grow. This grow, the windows are open or the heat is on, so it's a lot easier to keep my grow temps down. This plant seems to really appreciate the cooler temperatures. Plus, the cooler temperatures allow me to run 800 watts of light instead of 400.

This grow looks better, smells better (a nice light citrus smell, very floral, not skunky or earthy at all). And it's a decent size too. She pretty much fills up the 3-foot x 3-foot tent. The calyxes look fatter and healthier for this grow too. So maybe this next harvest will give me some idea how this strain won the Cannabis Cup.

I still have a few beans of Tangerine Dream left, but I've already put in an order to Nirvana for a couple of strains I'm going to grow instead.

Good luck with yours!

Hi Greenops, hows this grow coming along?

I have some LA seeds sitting around and ear-marked as next on the launch lad so am interested in how yours works out.

I finished some Amnesia Lemon recently. Lovely strain. Plants grew quite sativa dominant. But I expected that. These plants seem to love nitrogen, it was a constant battle in the first weeks to beat a Nitrogen deficiency, but yields were still modest. I flowered for 73 days, although they could of had a few days more. The smoke was top notch, the lemon smell and flavour was very tasty, and the high was a typical sativa, quite energetic, talkative type high. I grow a lot of Barney's stuff, in fact i've grown just about everything they do. I have never had any problems with their feminised seeds, or genetics in general. They are not the most stable at times, but hey they are reasonably cheap. I remember 10+ years ago it was always Nirvana that got slated, these days it seems everyone wants a piece of barney one way or another...

This is one at about 6 weeks into flower
