ground wire for grow box

im building a small grow box for mothers and im wireing up the 3 cfl lights that i am going to put in. i am useing an old amp and i want it to be super stealth but the coard that came previously with the amp has no ground plug. also the light sockets i am using dont seem to have a ground wire either. do i really need a ground? or would this be really unsafe and stupid?

most table top lamps other things dont have grounds
i know people will say dont listen to me it will burn your house down but i say run it
if it wasnt safe everything would have grounds

i believe he is saying

unless the safety regulations calls for a ground wire in his set up , then he dont need a ground .

but their is not a blueprint for the wiring of his set up .

if i dont have any heavy ass gauge cables then i dont worry about the ground .

oh ok cfls dont pull much amps so u r good op but tell me more about the cfls u r using

most government inspector "require grounds". if its in metal conduit that it self is the ground. and like fabfun said your fine nothing to worry about your running CFLs not an HPS or MH. if you do run either then just run a new circuit to it and run your own ground. go to home depot or lowes ace menards and get one pound it in the ground run a wire in the house to the circuit and your going to be ok.(not an expert by any means so everything is in my opinion not fact)

well i wouldnt advice getting a inspector to look at grow room wiring
lol u could also drill a small hole in floor and run a copper wire to a metal stake in craw space in the ground or if on a slab then run it out wal and to a metal stake but for a few cfls u dont need it

I think I need to ground my shit, two of my reflectors touched today and started sparking.... =|

that has nothing to do with ground that is a loose wire u need to check connections

you dont need a ground for cfl's if your reflectors are sparking that means you more then likely have the hot and neutrals reversed somewhere (black and whites)when that happens it can sometimes put electricity on the whole "device" , hopefully you have colored wires, if your just using regular lamp cords or something with no colors then your gonna need to put up some pics so we can help.... none of my cfl's are grounded. and if you did have them grounded right now, they wouldnt spark it would throw the breaker

well i have yet to buy the cfls im gonna use a daylight spectrum for veg obviously but i do not know what wattage to buy could you help me with this ? the dimensions of my amp are 18 inches long, 15 high and 8 inches deep. i have wired up 3 light sockets and have 3 fans with light traps behind the mesh where the speaker was. i wired the fans up to the volume and tone knobs so i can controle my fan speed and mainly keep noise to a minimum. i also intend on putting a hing of some sort on the back panel for easy access. I have also wired everything to the original cord on the amp for optimum stealth.. when i am all done (still have to put in reflective emergancy mylar blanket) this this with be completely light proof and stealth.

yeah man the box sounds cool, but i wouldnt grow if i lived with my parents dude..theres a lot to lose
