Grow Box Lighting - Please Help!!!

I am making a cabinet grow box and the last thing to do is install the lights. For the lights I have taken an old lamp cord and bought a light socket and a 4 way splitter. I have connected the lamp cord to the light socket and tested it and its not working. I have searched the internet and tried every thing I can think of to find out why its not working, with no luck. I have spent allot on this grow box and I'm starting to worry that I have wasted my money.

Where I live the neutral wire is blue and the live wire is brown

Did that lamp/cord work before? My only guess...

Not sure what you have access to, but what I did for my setup was got a Y split socket for lights, then an adapter for a light bulb to plug into an outlet. Did 2 of these combo's and attached to a power strip and hung above the plants....best of luck, on my first one and have invested quite a lot too!

Yeah I have tested the lamp cord and it works.
I live in New Zealand and I was surprised at how hard it was just to find what I have now.
