grow box lining

hi all, my question concerns the lining of a grow box. i have found some sheets of particle board that have formica or some such plastic laminate sprayed on one side giving a hard, shiny white surface. can i use this to line a grow box? if put it in the sun the glare from it is blinding. cheers, ksoup

The materials of the walls dont matter so much (as long as they are relatively well as thermal conduction), more over its surfaces ability to reflect and redistribute light. You need every lumin feeding those babies, not a single photon wasted. Id head to Home Depot and get a 14"x 25' roll of reflective Mylar sheeting. Its cheap, simple, and works very well. Adix that to the surface of your grow box and you've got what they sell online as grow tents at 150$+.

Sure you can man.
"If it blinds you. Then it's pretty reflective stuff".

Just get a Mylar blanket about 2.00 at walmart, that's what I use...

I personally recommend flat white interior paint.

You dont want it too shiny, that will cause reflection and hot spots that burn your plant. Think ant under a magnifying glass.

Mylar is 92% reflectability. The problem I see most often with mylar is that it tends to wrinkle.

Flat white interior paint is 86% reflectability, very cheap, and you can refresh it between grows.

thanks for the comments, wouldn't want to burn the babies so looks like flat white paint. However, being of a curious nature, I will also set up a space to test this formica board and I'll let you know how it goes.
