Well this is my third grow but my last 2 wer unsuccessful the last batch turned hermie and the one before that died due to heat issues.
Hopefully im third time lucky:-| Im growing 5 feminised big bud and 3 feminised ice strain I have them under a 90w led and a 150w cfl. Der in some cheap soil used for growin tomatoes mixed with some perlite for drainage.
Der 2 and a half weeks old from seed and the bottom leaves are startin to turn yellow, would it be because im using tap water. I'v left the water sit over night i cant think of any other reason why this would happen. I'll try attach a few pics let me no what you think.

When your first batch dies of heat stress, what were your temps/humidity at? And that looks like nute burn to me, just a guess though.

It looks like nute burn but i haven touched them with nutes yet just water every couple of days the Ph is at 6.5 so think thats ok. Ah the first batch i veged with an led light and wen i flipped the light to flower them i threw in one of those new 250w cfl's and i never checked them for about 2 days wen i came back they wer fried it was bout 110 degrees i was pissed i didnt think those cfls wer so hot there nearly as bad as a hps.

Cheers Doc, You could be right it cant be nute burn anyway. Its odd that one is alot greener and has out grown the rest by a good bit as you can see in the pics. Ill hold back on the watering and let them do their own thing thanks for the advice.

That's alot of plants, for not much light, better keep 'em small, and flower early. I would go with two 400 HPS's, minumum, for that setup. Not trying to discourage you, just saying that light is invaluable, when it comes flowering time, and that you could have much higher quality buds, going with 4 plants illuminated properly, than 8 plants, with the light stretched thin. :)

I agree Im thinkin if this finally works out for me ill go for a hps. But at the minute im only vegging with those lights wen i flower them im gona throw out the two weekest plants and just keep six plants under 2x250w cfls so hopefully that will do the job. Im gona start flowering in another 2 weeks. i think those big bud stay short and bushy from what iv read so fingers crossed ill have the space.

Check the soil used for growing tomatoes. Does the soil have any nutes in it already? I've had issues with soil and lights in the past but marijuana plants are pretty hardy and forgiving sometimes. Best of luck to you and your grow. Hope to see an update on your Big Bud strain.

The two 250's over 6 plants, should work out pretty good. I've never grown BB, but I recently grew a BB + White widow, and it stayed nice and short, and produced like crazy, with budsites everywhere. Good smoke too, I'm thinking about ditching Ice next time, and switching to that strain. Maybe some Jack Hehrer too.....

Hey thanks man yeah ill keep it updated weekly. I checked the soil and it says its perfect for seedlings and keeps them fed for the first 2 weeks so i was thinkin of feeding them 1/4 strenght nutes soon enough but dunno what to do now with these leaves turning brown.

How far are you into your grow with the bb? I got them to see if they live up to there name iv seen a few debates on here so just wanted to see for myself. I like the uk cheese too its big yeilding and has a great taste its good if your into sativa strains. What light have you got over the BB? Are you growing in soil?

Well, that grow finished up a few weeks ago, and I didn't document it. It was under a 600 HPS on a light rail(6 plants total), and yielded just over 2 ozs dried, finishing at just under 24". Could've done better, but I got sick mid-flowering, and wasn't able to maintain them like I wanted too. Still did pretty well. Oh yeah, I grow in soil, in 4-5 gallon black plastic pots. They call them '5 gallon', but they are closer to 3, if ya ask me.lol This time, I'm switching to actual 5-gallon buckets, and just started germing my last 5 Ice feminized seeds last night, along with 3 freebies....Northern lights Blue, Sugar black Rose, and Diablo II. Also, I switched up to a 1000 HPS, still using the light rail.

What kind of space are you working with id love to have the space for a 1000w. Was that 2 ounces overall you got? The ice is a nice strain its quick flowering too cant wait to see how mine turn out. Are you doin a journal for your grow wouldn mind following it.

I'm no expert or anything like that when it comes to growing, but we all share our experiences sometimes when it comes to growing. Just remember some know what they're talking or advising about and some think they know, and others don't know anything. I've bought books and asked lots of questions in forums like this.

I would start with the 1/4 strength after they dry out a bit. Just for info when I switched from vegging to flowering, I changed the nutes specifically for flowering. Hope this helps.

Nah, that 2 ozs was for that one plant, the BB + WW. I got almost 2 ozs off each Ice plant, as well. The harvest before that yielded about 3 ozs each, I believe that was the harvest in the link below, a few grows back. With this last harvest, while I was sick, I'd let them get really dry, to the point of getting really droopy, and it hurt yield. I think I'm due to start a journal, and being that i finally got my 1000, that's even more incentive. My goal this time, is to pull a QP per plant, with 2 rows of 4 plants, setup in an area about 3' x 5'. I like Ice too, I'm not dissing it at all. I think you'll be quite happy with it. Some of my phenos were done right at 8 weeks, and others took close to 10. potent, stays short, yields well, and isn't too difficult to grow.

Hmm....It's been 21 hours since I started germing the new batch of seeds, and I'm gonna check 'em in 3 more, to see if any spilt. I expect them all to be split and in soil, by this time tomorrow, and poking above ground by day 4. My buddy has my camera, so i think i'll grab it later, and start a journal. Winter is coming, should make for a good project. My goal, is to harvest by Christmas, which is cutting it close. You're more than welcome to follow it, if interested. Do ya have a journal of your own, by any chance? I wouldn't mind checking it out. :)

Its tough havin to wait around and let them run their course isn it, You need alot of patience. What method are you usin to germinate? I like the paper towels in a zip lock bag its worked well for me. I haven started a journal think ill just keep updating here its all the same really. 2 ounces a plant was good id be happy with 1 ounce per plant to be honest but we shall see this growing is addictive stuff lol. Let me no when you get those pics up mate.

I use a similar method to germinate, except I use moist paper, then place them between two small dinner plates, then set them on top of my hot water heater. I'm not sure what temperature it is up there, but I swear it's perfect, 'cause they germ super-fast there. I'd guess mid-upper 80's. The ziploc should work just as well, as long as ya keep them warm, and out of the light. Seeds germ best in complete darkness, which is why I use the plates.

Also, 1 oz per plant, is a good rational number to shoot for, til ya get things dialed-in. I'd say it's pretty average, especilly if you've run into a few problems along the way. One good tip to help keep your numbers up, is keeping the canopy even as possible, so that you can keep your light as close as possible. If you have one plant that's a foot taller than the rest, for example, that's a foot futher you have to back off the light, which really hurts the rest of the plants. Take some string or something, bend that tall one down, so that you can bring your light back down. Done right, it can really help your final yield. :)

Didn't check the seeds yet, but picked up my camera. I'll be checking on em in a little while, and'll probably snap a couple pics, if they've germed. Stay tuned.....lol

That is a serious lookin grow you have goin on looks great, Id love that setup myself might have one at some stage hopefully but for now ill just focus on this little grow tent op:) Are you a medical grower? Id say its tough to keep the smell controlled is it? How did those seeds germinate for ya?

Just thought id give a little update on my grow. I transplanted the ladies into 3gal pots and got rid of my two weakest looking plants which wer two big bud so im down to 3 big bud and 3 ice. Im at week 3 of veg now and one big bud has really out grown the rest, Ill attach some pics and give ya's a look, the rest of the plants seem to be stunted a bit from the over watering the first few weeks but they should be ok.
