Usually it's the indoor strain -outdoors where you have the problems.

Makes sense... I'm guessing an outdoor strain is suggested to stay outdoors because of needing the extra growth cause it's not a good producer... That's really all I can guess - unless I'm missing something 'cause in reality, I'm pretty much a noob with only 3 grows under my belt :P

The choose the outdoor strains by their ability to tolerate not only weather but also how resistant they are to pests

i haven't yet tried an 'outdoor/indoor' grow, i get the impression it's usually landrace sativa's that are strictly outdoor plants
they tend to grow too large and take too long for inside growing, at least for most growers with limited patience

nick88 has it right.

Tolerance to weather, pests, and mold play a huge roll in choosing an outdoor strain. Overall plant size, flowering time, grow difficulty, and estimated yield also play on desired traits of an outdoor strain.

To answer your question, I dont see why there would be any problems at all with growing an outdoor strain indoors or vice versa.

no hollands hope and farishan dew are both outdoor strains they are hybred how well they would do indoors I don't know but the farishan dew looks awsome from dutch passion but I think they would do best outdoors cause they where breed and climatized for dutch outdoors so thier genetics don't know artificial lights well they will still grow but probally not as good as an indoor variety you can be blessed with a great pheno tha loves it though but I'm sure they would be best outdoor some are probally too big and not great production for a smaller space

it's not a hard and fast rule that outdoor means monster sativa, there are some like hollands hope that will do fine inside
i think the hope is usually classed as indoor/outdoor?
this is more of a breeder by breeder type of question, when some breeders say outdoor, it really means outdoor
KC Brains has some of those like TNR

It also has to do with what strains were crossed to get final strain. If the mothers strain is from a tropical climate then it will most likely be rated as an indoor due to the fact the plant would have a tough time in your cooler shorter climates.

some descriptions mention indoor, sensi for example describes indoor results for holland's hope as being a certain size
this is a very tricky word, outdoor in holland is a lot different than outdoor in california

actualy I just checked out attitude and no hollands hope from sensi seeds
kind of sensi, white label, their 2nd tier seeds?
anyhow, i did see a number of growers that grew it inside, or at least mentioned they had a grow going
the description on attitude describes as an outdoor, then later mentions the size it will reach indoors
