Grow tent near furnace

Im a few months into my first grow. My tent is a few feet from my homes 15 year old mechanicals(furnace, hot water heater, etc...)

can the air being given off by the mechanicals have an adverse impact on my grow?

@Rogerlodge I have a similar layout and I have not had any issues. Only issue I could see being a problem is if you were somehow pulling in hot air into your tent somehow.

It can if it makes things too hot and/or makes the air too dry, yes. Just make sure you've got good humidity and reasonably stable temperatures. If it's too hot between the furnace and tent, use a fan to try to circulate that hot air around.

I would be more worried if the heat exchanger has a crack.
A lot of vacuum on your basement would maybe cause an issue but some carbon monoxide detectors will let you know when the furnace starts running a lot if this is an issue
I did some research when concerned about someone’s grow and it was a lot of info but from what I gather it is normal for a basement to have a vacuum due to convection

be aware that it will add CO2 and CO to your house, and could kill you
I wouldn't do it but thats just me. I'm sure if the flame burns correctly it is no different than a natural gas co2 generator

a 15 yr old furnace has a updated heat exchanger and should never crack. a lot of cracked fire boxes were really just a good way to sell a furnace. although there were some that absolutley did crack, they are more than 20 yrs old.

I agree, especially if you have kids. I keep a co2 detector in every floor of my house. I'd rather use a natural co2 grow bag in a tent. Most of them boys supplementing co2 is experienced veterans from what I've noticed.

Co2 isn’t what you want to detect, what you have is a CO detector for your house.

Carbon monoxide— the silent killer
Carbon dioxide- for plants

I agree the co2 bags aren’t really worth it neither is co2when venting to the outside. People think they make a difference but to use co2 properly there is a lot to go with it
Humidity , temperature and co2 Ppms all have to be controlled

No. Not a problem for the weed. The problem you can run into is the weed smell gets into the furnace air intake. Then it gets spread through the ducts, making the whole house smell like weed. It takes a long time to get the weed smell out of the ducts. It's best to locate the tent in a room where there is no air intake if you can.

My grow room was right by my water tank and furnace no issues for 3+ years.

The room air will intake right at the filter if you don't tape it up. I had to do that plus duct tape a bunch of seams on the intake ductwork to keep the smell out of the ducts.

shit. I didnt think of that. Tks for heads up

It can still be done, but you will probably need a lot of duct tape to seal the air intake leaks around the furnace and in the room. I did that and manage to keep the stink out of the ducts. My tent is about 20 feet away from the furnace. Completely duct tape around the air filter. Its a big leak source.

Look for aluminum tape instead of duct tape it’s way thicker and stickier. I did all my duct work about 7 years ago and it’s still completely sealed, I use it for light leaks in my tent
