I think tents are worth it. If you choose not to get a tent then at least by black and white poly aka pandafilm. You can find it at hydro stores and it's actually really affordable. Black on one side, reflective white on the other - easy to clean, easy to put up, ...

For the quality of construction, I consider my 4x4 tent to be cheap. I could not imagine making anything as user-friendly and capable of emergency takedown (with trouble-free reassembly) for anything near the price.
Although I live alone, the tent adds to my security by bulkheading all that bright light. cn

2 x 4's, pandafilm and some hooks and fan, 2 x 4's run ya 20 bucks easy to replace, tear down with a power drill (screwdriver bit) 20 min or so.

my dad runs his own plumbing company, when i was like 14-19 i was working with him every weekend and every summer, so i got a pretty good handle on this. one thing i do like though about what you said is the emergency takedown part lol

Here's the trick... take your plastic (whatever your using, tarp, painters plastic or panda film) start from the front of your room and secure it, run it under the room and up the back, obviously cover all sides, when it's all wrapped lay another layer of plastic inside the room overlapping the sides making it like a pool if you will (specially if growing on carpet). If you want a more permanent room they make plywood with one side reflective, I forget the name of it.

I think the biggest problem with your Wet Pipes idea is unevenness of watering. You can overcome this by using small holes at the ends of the feed arms, but then you have to pressurize the assembly. (So you can locate your water supply low that way as well.) The other thing is ... full of water, your structure will be heavy and prone to bending/torquing. I'd also be sure to fit a valved drain at its lowest point. Just some thoughts. cn

of course had to buy the 600W HPS (got a nice used one with new bulb/wires/aso) and the ventilation and carbon filter .. fans I had ..

a quick count and thanks to my creativity ;) I have spend less then 400$ on my room in total .. that also include a 6 tube 49W T5HO fixture (also from work .. made out of 3x2 tube fixtures) HPS was like 130$ or so .. ventilation and filter about the same then a few timers and soild nuts seeds aso.

but I may also add that I enjoy to build stuff :D specialy when I have smoked .. witch happens a lot ;)

im actually takin that that idea and running with it, what if i did it and ran it to every pipe thats running water with sections of hose. i plan on about 12 plants so total thered be 12 different valves in there, i think it can be done fairly easily with just some pvc spitters and some ball valves... and im surprised noone asked but the water is a steady 6.0ph

If you add dolomite lime to your soil, never a pH worry. Especially with faintly acidic water. cn
