Im growing with a unknown seed, using recycled soil from my last grow about a year ago. im doing a budget grow though now, looking to use only about 3 or 4 23 watt 1600 lumen cfls. right now i just have one on it in a solo cup. hopefully i will see results soon. i will be topping a lot. last grow i got about 16 grams i believe im not the best at yield but i take care of my babys very good. any advice? i wont be using nutrients either. all natural

What exactly are you looking for advice on? If you went more into specifics of what sort of information you are looking for i'm sure someone would be better able to assist you.

Don't expect to yield much, I was vegging some plants under 2 x 100 watt bulbs and they were stretching too much but if you only want a few grams a plant go for it but it's cheap to run a 600 watt cost you else then 20 a month

Y-Connector Sockets from Home Depot/Lowes really help with positioning your CFLs.

You could probably afford a proper CFL Grow Light though for how much you spend on all your CFLs. Check your local hydroponics store for some high wattage CFLs, you can probably find something for around $50-$70 that would destroy the simple store bought CFLs.

Topping is going to help you yes but LST is going to be your best friend. I've seen a 40W CFL grow produce an Oz utilizing a topping and lots of LST to expose the undergrowth to the light.

BIG IMPORTANT TIP: IF YOU USE CFL KEEP YOUR LIGHTS WITHIN ONE TO TWO INCHES OF YOUR PLANT. Seriously, a lot of new growers (including me) don't do this and their plants lose out because of it. If you're growing with CFL you need to surround your plant with small ones to garner any real benefit from it.

The following picture is off two plants at four weeks of vegetation under a single 125W Hydrofarm FlouroWing CFL Hood.

Let's put this into prospective. You are using recycled soil (with no nutrients) and 3 or 4 little CFL's.

My advice is "Get a new hobby"!
