Growbox Info

Hey everyone!

I'm new to growing but i've been reading a lot about it...
I am currently building a 2foot(w) by 2foot(l) by 5foot(h) grow box.
I'm going to get some White Widdow seeds.

Have a couple questions..

- What size light should i put in this size box? (for the flowering stage)

- How many plants could i grow in this box?

I have the same set up . I was using a 400w Hps for flowering but ballast has gotting to old so I now use 9-42w 2700 lumens cfls . Buds arent as big but still nice . I'll be switching back as soon as I get a new ballast. Just remember 40w psf is min.

6 plants max(average size.not trees)
you dont have much height for tall plants.
and in a well vented space you could use up to a 400w hps. WITH A COOL TUBE.
you will need proper extraction for this set up with the space you have.
and i would start flowering plants a 8-9" tall due to your roof height as they will grow 2-3 times this height when you start to go 12/12.

Thanks for the info guys! really appreciate the help, i could possibly get my box to 6 or 7 feet if needed, will it make a big difference:

Sure, more head height is a good thing.

A 400W would be nice in this setup. Look up HOLE in the search thingie above, he has a real nice set up for your situation. I would say 2 plants one per sq. ft, unless you want a SOG. Good luck keep us posted.

So i got the girlfriend to agree to allow me to build a 3x3x7foot box.(Downfall is I have to buy her an Armoir lol).. so i get that extra 2 feet in height and 1 extra foot on each side.. :clap:

With a box that is this size is a 400w MH still a good size? I figure with the extra length/width i can fit in another 2 plants (So 6-8plants max)
i'm aiming for around a pound per grow cycle(give or take)...

Secret Grower.. I've looked up HoLE and found a lot of his posts, just not quite sure what topic i'm looking for hehe


I'm going to homedepot tomorrow, i'll keep you guys informed on the size i decide to go with etc.. :) if i can pull out a Pound per cycle with a 3x3x7 box then thats what i'm going with. (1 light only dont want 2 much electricity usage)

3x3x7 foot? a 3x3 base will only flower 4 plants if ur luky and 4 plants will only yield you max 2 oz in a cab. u can prob veg 8 plants...4 of them on adv will be female.....which will leave u with 8 ounces. you should ask ur woman if u can do a 4x3x5 box youll be able to gro more plants and the box will be less space then a 3x3x7....7' is way to high for a 3x3 base anyway.

wow really? someone said in a 2x2x5 box i could fit 6 plants, i thought by going 3x3x7 would allow me 8 plants with 1 light
hmm now to decide what to do :-|

Hey guys, im in the process of buying everything now, construction will begin shortly.
This may sound like a stupid question... what kind of store can i find the HPS or MH bulbs / ballasts? I went to HomeDepot and they didin't have any :(
And I decided on going with 2x2x7 box , not sure if I should go HPS or MH though

I run 16 plants under a cool tubed 600watt HPS in a 36"x20"x60" homemade tent... with the light 10" from the tops and temps around 75F ...

Cool tubes are the shit... I can put the back of my hand against the glass and hold it there indeff.... they work good if you have a good fan driving it...

I run 4 DWC hydro trays with 4 clones each... crowded, but it's dry enough that I am not worried about mold, and I certainly have enough light with the 600 covering 5 sqft... that's like 19,000 lumens per square foot...

here is a picture of 4 of my moms in the same trays I use for flowering...
