first off i never said my budget was £20 and i meant for the vegging stage i believe you can use cfls for vegging on so i dunno why your coming on the attack at me i just wondered where everyone got there lights from who lives in the UK because im after some and im trying to find where to get them from to avoid huge import taxes if bought from over seas half the shit you'e said isn't even anything i've mentioned in this thread of any others i just asked a simple question thats all
It's not just a simple question of what light should I get? There are a whole load of other factors you need to consider - people simplify things down way too much on here and ignore equally important things.
People put far too much importance on lights and what kind, lights are only one aspect of growing plants indoors - and they need to be considered in parallel with other factors such as ventilation. There are four basic building blocks to plant growth - light, co2, water and nutrients. If any of those 4 are deficient in any way - plants won't grow properly.
You can have the best lights in the world, if you ignore the ventilation, temperature and relative humidity side of things your plants will die very quickly.
So, realistically, you need to offer more information on your own circumstances to enable anyone to offer you any advice on what lights to get. If you only have a budget of £200, you can't spend all of it on lights - you have to spend some on fans, odour control, soil, nutrients etc.
A simple fluorescent set up with proper ventilation, temperature and RH control will grow far better plants than an ass kicking HPS with no ventilation control.
