Ok SO can a plant grow without gravity? Has Nasa tried this at all, and if so Why the hell aren't we growing out in space.. You cant tell me we cant have a Bio- platforms of drip/spray hydro!!... And we got a 1/3 of the world starving.

putting water into orbit is the most expensive thing you can do pretty much. $/pound water is fucking dense. We have to wait till we are harvesting asteroids for their ice. Also i would guess the uv rays outside of our atmo are too intense for plants, so you'd have to filter them anyway. In the long run the best reason to use space to farm is just that; space. Otherwise with orbit to planet shipping of water and the finished food it would be far to expensive without a space elevator.

I can picture a cell structure of plants doing something very strange.. What kind of characteristics would it present... would it still grow up if there is no up?
