growing sativas in the north?

i live in maine and growing some random bagseeds... well all turned out to be sativa. at least it appears that way, all very skinny leaves long like fingers, no pics. question is will they grow buds and be able to finish in time at least decently? they appear to be at least vegging fine they are pretty big and bushy about 3 to 3 and a half feet... will they have enough time to finish?

Sativa's generally take upwards of 13 weeks to finish budding. You are talking late october early november, too cold up your way to finish. I would bring em inside if possible to finish, I had to do that last year with an indica, her sisters were dug up and the roots eaten by deer or a black bear????

I live in maine myself and it really depends how much your willing to devote to your plants. Flowering can be induced early by putting black trashbags that dont let any light in over the plants a couple hours before dark and then removing them in the morning. This is pretty labor intensive and may not suit your grow depending on how far away they are from you etc. The point of this is to bring the light cycle down to 12 hours of dark and 12 of light which triggers flowering. Maybe 13 or 14 hours of dark would be enough to trigger it. As soon as the natural light cycle in maine reaches what you are already inducing you can stop the trashbags and then let it finish out naturally.

Also, you can give bloom ferts to try to induce early flowering. I have read on this site that high potash and potassium, not nitrogen, can start the flowering cycle early, along with the black bags, this might do the trick. Also, it is supposed to be a long, hot summer. Pray for a very warm, long fall!

ya the black bag thing is something i thought of but would be really hard as it is a boat ride and a decent hike to my plot... guess ill try the flowering nutes thing and hope for the best. if worse comes to worse and i wait as long as i possibly can to harvest and its still not done, will it at least be decent and smokeable?

I had a question regarding sativa , im growing master kush , witch from what i know and what my plant looks like it is mostly sativa.
I also read about master kush that it is a good strain to grow cause of its shorter then regular time to flower then most sativas.
I also live in the north , and now im questioning the faith of the plants and myself , and wondering since today is July 22 and its almost start of August, and yet i am not flowering yet.

What do you guys think of my situation and my knowledge of the strain i am growing ?
