growing under my house

i am tryin to grow under my house but am not sure about the temperature because its going to start dropping does anyone think there is a possibility of this working maybe if i put a stand up heater down there? I am using a 400w hps so i figured i would grow about six plants...i have white widow seeds, just waiting on the ballast to arrive at my house.

IF its out of the wind, it doesn't matter, you can set it up to control heat. You'll probably have to make, in basic terms, a grow box if you're talking being in the ground. If you're in a trailer home, mod home, pre fab and you're just doing it on ground level, you'll def need a grow box and a way to keep it warm when the lights go out, so a themostat will surely be needed.

If you use a gas heater it also release co2, its easier to keep somewhere warm than it is trying to keep it cool. You by a electric heater on a thermostat for the night and during the day the light will keep it warm.

yes it is on ground level and i live in a modular home it has a wooden door about 3ft tall to go under my house its the only place i can grow and not get caught, i will put some pics up to give you guys a better idea...

thats the problem i only have 5ft of clearance and worried that i wont be able to grow the plants to full strength
you can def train plants to keep a low growing profile...LST'ing, FIM, SCROG, Topping, Super Cropping, etc,.
But just keep the plants at ideal distance from your 400 watt'r.

I'd be really nervous with a bunch of electrical things plugged in under the crawlspace of my home. Especially a space heater.

I mean, what if a pipe bursts or there's a flood? Or what if an animal gets under there and knocks the heater over, starting a fire?

This is just my take on things, so ignore it if you wish.

Growing under your house (not in the basement or any place with EASY access) must be done with the absolute best setup available.

Your going to run into temperature problems when fall/winter come. Using a heater is just asking for trouble.

How are you going to explain when your neighbors notice there is ZERO snow near your home due to the heat loss from underneath?

Keeping a decent average temperature is bound to cause a fire. Well, at least for most people that would try this setup.

I dunno about you, but if i have to fight a fire, i'd like to be able to see it. Being under your house, you'd be dead before you know it. Prefab's and trailers burn SUPER quick from my experience.

The limited height is going to be tricky. Those strains like more room then your gunna have, but you can train them. I dunno if i wanna spend that much time hunched down or on my back training them though.

I dunno about you, but my grow room is CLEAN. Cleaner than a hospital. I dunno how you'd keep all the bugs and critters away when your gunna setup a nice warm "home" in the middle of winter. Just asking for problems if you ask me.

There are much better places to grow my friend. A few plants in a 2x2 closet is even better than this idea.

I hate to "kill" your ideas, but i just don't think this option is the best option.

Maybe you can keep a decent box w/ some kind of netting and make sure no lights leak. I think you still have a soild 2-3 months before first frost just plant them now (if you live in midwest U.S.?)

The heater sounds like a really bad idea, you'll get cooked in your sleep in a housefire.
