Growing weed decriminalized in UK

Not sure if this has been posted, the laws are about to change regarding growing cannabis in the UK.

A person caught growing 9 plants (up to 40grams a plant) will not get a criminal record, but could receive a fine (150% of weekly wage) and/or community service.

Comes into effect on the 27th Febuary

If that is true then thats great for our friends across the pond, but I need a link to a news or UK government website that I've heard of before.

I heard something last year about Czech republic decriminalized all personal amounts of all drugs. I dont remember specific numbers, but like you could grow up to 5 marijuana plants for personal smoke, so many pieces of magic mushrooms, so much heroin, etc. Its supposed to help with crime rate. It is completely legal now to smoke a joint in public without being harassed by law enforcement. Sounds like that may be the place to be visiting instead of Amsterdam with that new coffee-shop and tourist law coming out.

Been posted about a few times, but yeah its good news. bear in mind they'll still kick your door at 4AM, take your plants, take your lights and nutes, just because you wont go to jail doesn't mean its 'legal'

It has been posted before, but the thread title is very misleading, it has "NOT" been decriminilised in the UK. The sentencing guidelines are set to change at the end of feb, what it does mean is that someone growing less than 9 plants with an average of 40g per plant, is now much more likely to get a fine and community service orders rather than jail time if it is a hobby grow. If its connected with dealing in any way at all you will still go to prison.
The hope is that due to the new guidelines Judges will no longer be able to hand down Draconian sentences for minor offences as they will now be open to immediate appeal if they do. If this is seen by the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) to be a waste of money the hope is that the police will no longer waste their time on pursuing minor cases, as without interest from the CPS they will not go to court in the first place.

It is still very much Illegal to grow in the UK and as stated above the Police are still fully intitled to kick in your door and haul you away and add a criminal conviction to your record!.
