Growing white dutch cover crop for first time on top of pots

Hi everyone I'm new to organic growing and growing out cover crops ... 3 days ago I sprinkled some cover crop seeds on top of my pots outside but haven't seen any progress yet other than the seeds starting to turn yellow and red is this a sign of the seeds germinating? And how long does it take for white Dutch cover crop seeds to sprout?

They need to be in the soil to germinate correctly. I just found this with a quick Google search. It does say the "may" germinate from the surface, but I'd just rake them into the soil a bit.

Seeding Depth
The ideal seeding depth for clover seeds is approximately 1/4-inch maximum, but under favorable weather and soil conditions, clover seed present on the soil surface may germinate and become established. Good seed-soil contact is important to ensure rapid germination and emergence.
