I found one 275 watt Westinghouse Sun Lamp bulb in my utility room, and I was curious as to whether or not it would be suitable to grow or flower my weed plants.
I've tried to research into growing with sun lamps, but not many people use them due to their "out-datedness" and high heat output, but those are the only negative aspects of them I could find.
I let my curiosity get the best of me and I tried using the sun lamp on my seedlings for one 16-hour photo period, (instead of my 25 watt cfls) the results were very positive! my seedlings grew rapidly within that one photo period, more so than they did in a week under the cfls. although, I don't think one good test run is enough to deem the sun lamp worthy of growing my plants.
(note: my grow room is a basement, so I could position the lamp a safe distance from the plants. also, the room maintains a cool temp and relative moisture which accommodates this lighting.)
so I need some feedback, do sun lamps stress the plants? are they better for vegging or flowering? tips? any helpful input is appreciated
