1st post!

for starters hello everyone, its a pleasure to be here!

my current setup (shown on pics) consists of a grow tent 90x50x160cm with 400w lamp (MH and HPS). atm i'm growing two mystery plants that have done very well so far (one week into flowering). the idea was to collect some experience on them then use this tent to grow a motherplant (or two? different strains) in the future. next step in my idea is to get a bigger tent (120x120x200cm) for vegetation and flowering. as any beginners setup mine is lacking a lot of things but i'm in the biggest dilemma about lighting. i need to bounce couple of estimates and hopefully, with your help, find the best fit.

i have found that i overkilled with the lamp, 400w tends to heat up the tent a lot. the tent is well airated (10/13cm in/out fans) but still the temperature is a bit high, 25-26C, and this is while its still not that hot outside, 23C outside atm and in the summer it tends to go to 36-38, even over 40C. i think its safe to say that this will skyrocket my tent temp since the room with the tent doesn't have AC. besides i think my tent height is fairly low for a 400w lamp and powering 400w bulb to overheat my tent feels like i'm working against my self.

what i was thinking is to replace small tent lightning with 250w MH lamp and ballast and use it to grow, ideally, 2 different strains motherplants. use 400w MH and HPS in the big tent with the best reflector available to me, adjust-a-wing avenger medium. also i was thinking of placing 2 or even 4, (one in every corner) 100w Philips FlowerPower bulbs to boost light output and spread (or something to that idea).

pros / cons: low electricity cost, don't waste any equip i already have, lower temps / might not have enough light (specialy in the big tent during flowering)

so... there's the situation and a very flexible idea. i'm looking for a good performance system rather than going cheap but naturally i don't want to spend more money than i have to. any input on any point will be appreciated, like "250w MH will be enough for motherplants", "you should go for 600w HID in the bigger tent", "get better cooling and keep stronger lamps". anything to help me decide the best course of action.

if you switch out the lighting you could put some more reflective material near the bottom of the plant like emergency blanket on a cardboard sheet to keep it straight and keep it at an angle to help get light to the areas of the pllant that the light wasnt normaly makeing it to

obviously i asked too much... so lets simplify...

would 250W HID bulb be enough for 90x50x160cm veg grow tent?

would 400W HID bulb be enough for 120x120x200cm veg/flower tent?

no? then what would you recommend for the given spaces?

what would Jesus do?
