when growing next to lots of tall weed and thorn bushes how deep should my holes be in order to give the plants enough room for the roots to grow. ill be filling the holes with my own soil I made.

I'd go with at least 2' deep and 2'-3' wide.

true that, and make sure to kneel down and look up and the suns path and make sure your getting full sun from like 10-2 AT LEAST. do some trimming if you need to. and If you have clayish soil dig a little deeper and fill the bottom with a little gravel, will help drainage a bit, not so much in a monsoon but it will help.

i use a five gallon lowes bucket in crappy ground, a 3 gallon in decent ground. dig until the bucket fits in the hole you dug. spread the old soil around don't just leave it in a pile. don't make a trail straight to your girls zig zag around and dont go back the same way you came in.
