h.s.o dr. greenthumbs emdog

welp i got a five pack of the humboldt seed organizations B-real Cypress Hill's Dr. Greenthumbs Emdog.
so i started off trying to germinate two of the five in jiffy seed starter pellets and put them in a humidity dome.
so i waited and after 36 hours they popped and the tap root started growing. but after a week or some time within that first week it just stopped growing. the seeds never came out of its shell just a tiny tap root. so i waited thinking that it needs more time and gave them the benefit of the doubt and after two weeks still just the tiny little root.
so i started the last three remaining seeds and the same thing happened again.
i dont know if it was the peat pellets or what but i feel like i just wasted the time and money on junk seeds
so just a warning to any one else wanting to try this strain out, good luck bc im outta seeds and the money spent on them :evil:

try and find some contact info for hso and send them an email.. a lot of times a nicely worded email is all it takes to get another pack from a breeder, and some times some freebies for your troubles.
doesn't always work, but worth a shot imo..

I just bought 3 Em Dog seeds and only one germed. Ugh! Just to compare I found a seed in my weed (that self pollinated last grow) and I threw in a pot in my flowering room and in 3 days it's 2" high without soaking or heating or any special attention and on 12/12. Them fresh ones really take fast. I'd found another seedling a couple of weeks ago and I finally killed it when doing major flushing but it was hard to kill. It must have been a seed that fell out somehow as I did have other seeded plants in there near harvest. I don't have time for another grow this spring otherwise I'd grow them out just for fun.

thanks yea it is worth the shot ive heard good things from hso thats why i wanted to try them out

sounds like user error to me if the beans popped and showed a tap root :confused:

Im about to harvest a 5 pack run, with 2 of these total keepers. The smell is so strong the filter barely keeps up... I need to get some pics up and do a full report on these.

I've ran that strain without any problems. I only popped 1 bean, but it turned out fairly descent. It had a nice chemmy flavor. It wasn't quite fuelly though. It didn't yield all that great though. Every HSO seed I have ever tried has germinated without any issues. Maybe try putting your seeds in a small cup of dirt. I've never used pellets before, so maybe that is your problem.

i got in contact with the people i got my beans from and showed them what happen and they are gettin me some new ones
so ill up date with cup of dirt i got some happy frog layin around

I use pete pucks in a cup of dirt. Humidity dome is what I say killed them, every time I've put seeds in a humidity dome they just died. I'd don't know if the humidity got too high or the heat, but I lost like 50-60$ in seeds that way.

Now I start in Solo cups, I put a pete puck in the center of a cup filled with dirt with the little mesh bit removed.

Update: The one Em-dog that I grew out sucked. It had empty (em) seed pods. If you've ever had a plant like that it's an ugly mess. All of the other HSO seeds I grew out were high yielding plants. Em dog is a fake IMO.

Naw, it was just that type bud, I've even seen it from dispensaries/retail here. BTW it was not a stable strain in my garden, maybe someone else with more experience may have had better luck but it wasn't a male, I've grown long enough to know the difference between male and female lol.

Male plants do not have seed pods, female plants have seed pods (calyx).

I am not happy either. I am near harvest my 1st try and I am getting long, airy, skinny buds with no crystals. I have grown 40 strains so far and this ones clone is headed for the trash this morning. Should I try the other Emdog seeds or move on?

I'd just add it to experience and move on. So many good strains out there and time and space is valuable.
