flowergurl answered your question pretty good. Curing done correctly will enhance flavour, and texture. Curing is not necessary if you perfer the natural minty flavour of the plant. Until the plant fully dries some of the sugar production is halted, so the plant will break down stored starch to make simple sugars which are used for food. which will give the plant a better flavour in my opinion. At the same time this happens chlorophyl is broken down. which is where the leaves will begin to lose there green color. Drying is something of the same thing in the process you are describing as long as the room remains dark and well ventilated after chlorophyl breakdown. I believe that the sun or light will degrade thc by raising temps in the drying/curing process. better to have a cool humid well ventilated room. the slower the cure and drying for that matter the smoother the weed will be when inhaled. Fastly dried weed will retain a harsh hit with a minty taste. I believe it has something to do with the oils in the plant not drying all the way or something i dont recall.
