I was bouncing at a bar in downtown Detroit when Super Bowl XL came to town back in 06'. This guy came in and started setting up his stuff, brought all of his equipment out etc.
Now, (at the time anyway) he's kind of small and round and very timid. Super polite, quiet voice, one of the most laid back performers I'd ever met. Clean cut, close shave. I really expected him to suck, or to play some weird hipster shit.
Anyway when this guy started performing I was shocked, to say the least. He was awesome. I never expected that singing voice to come out of that guys mouth lol. His playlist was mostly old stuff (Brown eyed girl, stuff like that) that I'm really not too into, but it still sticks with me as being the best performance I've seen by an unknown performer. He pulled off every song flawlessly.
Never really heard of the guy again anywhere and now he's popping up on tv 10 years later. From having a few brief interactions with him that night he seemed like a really good guy, and very talented. Kudos to him for sticking with it and doing his thing
