Harvest everything or continue to grow ?

Hello.
Iv just made it to my first harvest and my bud is drying as we speak. :]
I harvested my two main colas and some of the main side branches but still have quite alot of 'popcorn' budding about the plant.

If i continue to grow this will the popcorn buds to fatten up more ?
If so, do i just jump back into my bloom nutes regime or just water?
Would it be worth it, how long would it take roughly etc ?

Right now some of the bud sites down the bottom and mid plant im guessing once dried wont even do a J. Should i just chop these off to help fatten the bigger ones up top more?

Tried to get a few pics up but all im getting is a red exclamation mark. Iv made sure the files arent too big. Tey are only like 60kb. Had this problem a while back, cant remember how i fixed it though. Anyone know whats happnin ?

Thanks for looking.

i usually use these smaller branches and "popcorn" buds for hash making along with my trim. Or, in a case where I did not have any clones of a plant that showed amazing traits i wanted to continue and already budded that far to harvest, you can re-veg and grow this plant again...it would take like 4-6 weeks but they come back and you can harvest again or take clones or both. It is not the most efficient and is not a very common practice, but it works. Or if you just want more bud then continue the 12/12 and bloom....the buds that were furthest from the light will continue to develop if they were under developed and now fully exposed to light.

Depends on what style grow your're doing. If your doing a perpetual grow, chances are you need the bud outta there ASAP, so all the branches will get cut. If you're just growing some plants and dont have vegged plants waiting to flower, then I would give those airy buds some more lights and nutes.

Thanks for the pointers guys.

Iv decided to just chop her. I dont have any plants in veg or anything, i have a sativa dom still flowering that could do with the extra space and hoping to get that done asap... also i have a huge shortlist of strains i wanna try next time round, dying to get my second grow on the grow. Would love to try some hashish also but not gonna happen. Not atm anyway.

Heres a few pics of my harvested sidebranching/popcorn budding. And a shot inside my drybox that i may start to eat if i dont stop looking at it.

Thatl do me nicely. Maybe not the most potent, but im sure it'l be better than the shit iv been buying lately. :D Also got a jar full curing thats getting better by the day.

:peace:

Cheers man. Its very tasty so far mate. Its ghs lemon skunk, not much lemon taste so far but im hoping thatl come along with a good cure. Goin to jar my two main colas up for a month+ before touching them.
Goin by what iv sampled so far it should be some sweet weed. It reaks ! Now that iv managed to grow it without getting busted il just have to watch smoking this shit doesnt get me busted it smells so strong.

Quick q... Prob a long shot but just to make sure, its ok to hang the buds by paperclips yeah ? Iv been cutting them and then bending into shape and hooking one end into the stem and hanging with the other end.
The metals in the paperclips wont seep into the stem and into the bud and affect taste or anything like that will they ?

Cheers.

Not in my experience...the paper clip thing i mean, im sure thats fine. Remember that seed companies rarely sell non-fem IBL's and phenotype expression is varying...so in a group of 20 lemon skunk seeds you can expect some to show differences. It all matters what the breeder selected and bred for. My Indica/Sativa#2 is ALWAYS sour tasting and single bladed in the end...but if you grew out 100 of her seeds, you'd get tall ones, short ones, more indica leaves, more sativa leaves...she's still being locked down for some traits. What I'm saying is that Lemon skunk will not 100 % of the time taste lemony....but also alot of natural taste is brought out in cure and thats where you'll get it back most likely. Sounds great bro....keep growin!

Hello again 906breeder.

Intresting, i kinda understood phenotypes etc, and got the jist of it but i didnt know flavour came into it too. I thought phenotypes were just visible differences.
I thought because it smelt lemony when growing that would carry over into the taste when smoked. I see what your saying though. And its no biggie. I didnt choose lemon skunk purely for the lemon taste or anythin. So well see what happens with a good cure.
Im just happy that ive just grew the best weed ive ever smoked probably. I have lots of it, and its all mine, mine i tell ya!

bongsmilie cheers

Been thinking a bit about phenotypes etc With regards to the lemon skunk basically not being guarenteed lemony tasting. Does this apply to other strain effects that seed breeders use, like the actual hit from it?
For example, looking at a few strains for my next grow that claim to be quite trippy and pSycHEdEliC, like barneys farm lsd, belladonna, cindy99 nevellies/SS haze etc

Does that mean theres also a good chance that i wont experience any of these traits ? Phenotype expression. Which are more or less selling points to me. Or am i missing sumthin. Hope that makes sense. :eyesmoke:

i guess where most people go wrong is thinking that if they order say 10 super lemon skunk seeds that all 10 will grow the same plant. Depending on who bred these exact seeds will control what traits are possible to be expressed. Not to many strains are IBL available as to protect the breeders work. Then it depends on exactly what the breeding program was designed for. With a name like lemon skunk, its pretty likely that a huge trait that was locked in by backcrossing and selection processes throughout many years was the lemony taste or smell. But other factors like height, flowering time, and leaf color may vary in the F1 generation. And phenotypes are just the physical expressions of the genes themselves. If they released seeds that were true in their traits there would be no need to buy seeds again. This is how most home breeders start. Ordering seeds from a breeder then growing out these seeds and selecting for desirable traits. Then employing an intensive breeding program to get rid of undesirable traits and further lock down the chosen traits preventing variation in the future. Breeders control the percentage of phenotype expression. So to answer your question it all depends on what the breeder selected for and released to the public, how you grow your environment, and how many seeds you get. Obvisously if you get 100 purple seeds the majority of these seeds with have the actual purple trait, but if you order one feminized seed.....I reccomend reading the cannabis breeders bible by Greg Green...very good information on genetic manipulation.

Hmm, I see. Im getting you but i see i have a bit more reading up to do to fully understand, but thanks for the starter info mate.
I have the greg green book, but its in pdf format. Bit of a pain in the ass to read like that i find. Gonna try get hold of the actual book.

Cheers again man.
