Harvest Potency Question????

Lets say you have a strain of plant that flowers in 8 weeks. At weeks 6-8 you are examining trichomes almost daily and decide that at day 60 you harvest most of your plants and decide to leave what's left to mature some more and harvest this also. After say 10-14 days you harvest the rest.
Is potency based on age? I know THC % is based on strain. If two plants of the same strain are grown in soil and using hydro yield will "WEIGH" in favor of hydro but will they both reach their max THC potential?*
The reason I ask is that I usually end up harvesting my plants like 3 times before I completely chop them down. *So are the buds from the first harvest less potent because they were cut before the third? *Thanks everybody!

Good question. The THC content won't change from day 1 of flowering (that's why some will take a young flower off a plant to test it to see how potent it is) to the very end of flowering. So it will still get you the same amount of high, just in a different way. As the plant matures, the THC turns in CBD. The earlier you harvest, the higher the THC and the lower the CBD, so get a speedier high. The longer you wait, the higher the CBD gets and the lower the THC gets, the more of a couchlock body stone you will get. The more THC there is, the more it can turn into CBD, so what you are doing is just showing the progression of the different types of high you can get. You are also getting more off the plant by harvesting that way. It really is a win-win, and a pretty efficient method for maximizing yield.

Thanks Homegrown for the reply. That is what I was hoping to hear, there is so much information out there and so many opinions about how to do just about everything to a garden. I usually get a small harvest right before my peak window, but there is usually buds near the top of the plant that are just hitting that amber phase, 70% cloudy 30% clear. And then a few days later I get my main harvest and whatever is left I just leave for at least a week until I chop all my girls down. One other question is I usually hit that last harvest with a nice FAT load of sucanat. Now since the plants have been flushed up to this point do you think the sugar is helping or hindering? Thanks everyone.

I've never tried it, but I guess it wouldn't hurt in morderation. When flushing you are removing the salts to help mellow the taste, the plants are probably getting a little hungry and can use the sucrose and extra carbon at that point, and this allows you a chance to feed with having to worry about it affecting taste. Of course, if you put too much of anything on them they can be negatively affected, but if you haven't noticed any ill effects from the amount you have been giving 'em, then you should be good to go.
