harvest question

can you harvest without killing the plant? or is it a one and done?

You can take the buds off here and there as they ripen but ultimately the plant dies when you finish it. Some people rejuvenate, re veg, or whatever you call it. I do not like this practice and do not use it myself but its possible

There is a lot of info here under "re-growing". Do a search and check it out. Re-growing means harvesting 80-90% of the buds and immediately putting the plant back to start re-vegging. After vegging like a normal plant you flower her after 3-5 weeks of re-vegging. Note: if you grow in small pots as I do you should be aware that you are doubling a plants' life span and using the same dirt. So I added some nutrients to the daily watering.

PS -- When picking out a plant to re-grow you look for plants that have a lot of vegetation and small budlets at the base of the plant. The more little greenery you leave on during harvest the better the re-grow.

when i 1st started growing i had the same thought...i thought personal attachment to the plant would hinder my ability to outright kill it on harvest day, but after i tried to re-veg one i qwikly realized why not to do it. it is a bitch and wastes too much time, just take a cutting 2 weeks into flower and do all you can to root it slowly as possible. doing it slow allows the original "mother" plant to finish flowering while the clone is coming up. put a couple cfl's over yr clone until yr original plant finishes.
i do it this way to get as close to growing perpetually as i can with only one grow tent.

You can take cuttings from a female that has been flowering for a week or less and get the cuttings to root in 8-10 days. Like any normal clone. After 7 days flowering the mom's clones take 6 weeks or so to root. Seems like a waste of time to wait until mom has been flowering 2 weeks. Take that cutting a week earlier and save yourself a month, eh?

i do it to purposly 2 weeks in so it DOES root slower so my original plant can finish flowering. i only have one tent, was assuming he had same.
by the way, you ever check out monster cropping? i personally think its worth the wait...

Having a proper mindset going into cloning will go a long way to helping you be successful. First off - everyone fails at first. If you start out like I did with about $40 invested in a cloning set-up you are bound to have a series of cuttings that refuse to root. Try taking larger cuttings. Try a seedmat heater under the dome (good idea). Make sure dome humidity is as close to 100% as possible. Mist clones daily....... There are a ton of variables that determine if your cuttings take root to become clones. So, get familiar with the literature here and start experimenting. Use moms with at least 6 weeks in dirt for best results.

PS -- a good indica-dominant strain will make things easier. Try Blueberry Gum from G13 Labs for an easy variety to clone. I use the large 2-inch Jiffy pellets so I can take larger cuttings. Leave 5-7 leaves on the cutting and trim largest leaves if uneven or top-heavy.

Agree. Especially about sturdier cuts. The mat is a must and I use mine for seedlings as well.

best way to clone is an aero cloner. ebay or make one for like $20. shit roots in less than a week.

ya, and i retract my advice on waiting 2 weeks into flower to take a cutting. its just yet one more technique you can look into after you get the basics called monster cropping. trying it now will only lessen yr success ratio on yr cuttings, like big stevo said

I'm ashamed to admit that I used heat mats for cloning domes for nearly 10 years before I figured out the mat would help seedlings too. Good point!
