Another way is to cut the plant at the base, pull off the fan leaves, and hang upside down in a cool dry place for 5 to 7 days, or until the small sticks snap when bent. We extract it at that point, while it is still rife with monoterpenes.
Fresh frozen produces an intensely aromatic creme ala creme extract, but at a low yield rate per cycle, due to the added bulk of the water. I do it for small amounts of concentrates, but turning whole harvests into fresh frozen extract is beyond my available time.
