Agreed with above.. perfectly fine.. actually the best way for you to get a consistent harvest.. If you take the whole plant it will be more imature as you go down.. unless you have a crazy light setup or your outdoors.. and even then same idea just not as drastic..

just ask yourself... when tomatos, cucs, roses, etc... are ready do you chop the whole plant?? or pick as they ripen/bloom???

Same idea.. the plant sections mature at different times.. especially with weaker lights that don't have good canopy penetration..

man thats a good way of putting it.. so true, tops first if there ready then wait it out.. I have taken tops and waited 2 more weeks to do the rest

Pretty simple - if possible harvest the ripe buds. Check the section for ripeness and go from there. Harvesting part of the plant wouldn't hurt the rest of the buds.
Harvesting a part of the plant lets the other buds get more light and so they give more weight in the total count.

Some people rather chop down the whole plant due to logistic issues.

i dont know why but in my high ass mind I never thought about just harvesting the top and let the bottom flower longer, I was just always use to chopping the whole plant, just to make room for the new clones, but I am definitely going to try this, as I am growing dna's chocolope and the plants grow very tall a lot of lower branches get no love from my lights, thanks for this post =)

I just thought of something, obviously you would have to flush out the plant so that when you harvest the tops, it will not taste harsh, so my guess would be to flush it out the last 2 weeks, then after you harvest restart your bloom feeding schedule for the rest of the lower branches...does that sound about correct??

I am thinking about doing this but my cola's are so much bigger than my bottom buds and i was wondering if my colas are 50/50 cloudy/amber won't my bottom buds be too. I wouldn't want the bottom buds to go so long that their THC starts to degrade right? Would it be a good idea to revert to veg after i cut the colas so i can start the process over and do a scrog?

In soil the plant can go for 3 weeks without feeding and give a proper crop.
If organic fertilizers have been used a week of flush prior to the main cola harvest will be just enough and another week of clean water until the rest is ready sounds pretty optimal for me.
Using chemicals I'd give it a week of flush prior to the main cola chop, fertilize once with a bit higher rate of fertilizer and flush for another week and chop.

usually the bottom part are less mature. THC wise as well. letting them go another week will get them to the same point the main cola was a week ago.
however, its VERY strain and setup specific.

revegging takes time to happen, requiers some healthy leaves and branches and usually doesn't produce as much yield as the first run.

I think Revegging is good to grab a clone off a plant that you other wise might not have been able to.. well that's before this whole root cloning came about..

Yeah you could keep using the same tree.. but i'm sure time wise it's quicker to have a clone ready to flower..

OK so what I am understanding is, IF I cut the main cola right off the plant, the other cola's/buds will still continue to grow and not feel shocked/stressed by this?
Also I want to put my plant into 36-48 hour darkness.
Do you think putting it in this long period of darkness then harvesting the Main Cola and then returning it back into regular 12/12 will have any negative effect?
