Reasons like these make me happy i clean my trimmers with rubbing alcohol every plant -- no disease transfer. Can I assume that because the rest of the buds look healthy after detailed inspection, that they are healthy to smoke?
if you cant see any fluff on the bud its fine to smoke, bud rot is very common, but with good practice you can keep it at a very small percentage of your total yield
you may of even smoked some affected bud in the past without realizing
sometimes you do not know the rot is there until you open up a large bud after it has dried
Dont worry about it too much, the best way to prevent it or minimize bud rot is to find strains that are not susceptible to it in the first place
these tend to be plants that spread their yield over many colas instead of fewer very large colas
try to keep humidity 40-50% or lower at all times, plenty of air circulation around the plants 24-7
the rot occurs because the environment inside a large cola gives the rot perfect conditions to grow from the spores that are always floating around in the air anyway ,
you could look into ozone and uv bulbs to clean the space too this helps with things like powdery mildew also
it is very hard to avoid some bud rot, over a large crop its more common than not, mositure becomes trapped inside the large colas,
the first sign of bud rot inside a cola is normally a single small dead leaf in the cola that has turned completely yellow may even have a few brown spots on it, while all the other bud leaves are fully green
i tend to chop the cola down if i find it early or remove the buds that are damaged when its still growing, as it could spread to other buds close by
