Has anyone tried the GrowElf ebb & gro-like bucket system?

I was wondering if anyone has used these GrowElf systems? I am seriously thinking about going with this type of system and since I'm a moron when it comes to DIY, I'm going to buy one instead of building it. After I get up close & personal with it, I'll probably build another one. I read a very informative thread here on RIU about the CAP Ebb & Gro system. Many praise it but toward the end of the thread there were a lot of negative posts regarding the controller unit. So if anyone has any feedback on this particular system http://www.growelf.com/ or any others besides the CAP system, I'd appreciate your input. Thanks again!

get the cap its a proven design. as with anything when there are 1000's of them you can find some with problems. I've had mine over two years and still work perfect

Built my own ebb & flow system. 2- 2'x3' trays. 15$ home depot. Pumps fitting from hydro store $45. 50- gallon roughneck storage bin $15 Walmart...boom that's it. Simple and effective...BTW..trays are 8" deep. Ill post a pic tonight. Easily saved $100+ bucks doing it myself. Also built a table out of 2x4's. $25 at home depot...MAKE YOUR OWN. U WILL THANK MEFOR SAVING U CASH.

This system has been running in my spot for 3 months. I have replaced all my cap brains with growelf brains, one at a time due to fatal failure with the cap system. I now have two in my bloom rooms, one in veg, and one for my mothers. I took a leap of faith, and it has proven to be a good one. The guys are there whenever I may have had a question, but they really have'nt left much to question. This system is a not a joke. I am expanding and will buy their complete set up from now on. they say the buckets are compatible with the cap inners. Dahmer8afew have confidence in this system, I bet my entire savings that it will not fail. good luck.

We're really excited to see people talking about GrowElf. As a new company we face some challenges --- the primary one being name recognition. The GrowElf team is 100% committed to earning the trust of the grower community. We understand you have a lot riding on the performance of your systems. I'd value any opportunity to speak to anyone out there interested in learning about our story, our vision, and our products. The GrowElf product line was born from our own need to have a system that worked better than anything on the market today. We were running a widely used ebb & flow system and had failure after failure with bad timers, faulty float switches, and burned up relays. Point blank --- our system is remarkably better than anything out there. Plus our entry-level-complete-system is still priced lower than the competition. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] anytime to chat, ask questions, or give us feedback.

Tosar, it's been awesome working with you. We really appreciate your business and value the trust you’ve placed in us. I'm glad we were able to personally help you set your system up the other day. As we told you --- we're here to help whenever you need it. It's part of our commitment to our customers to see them succeed. We know with your prior industry knowledge and our systems you’ll be on your way soon.

I'm interested in the GrowElf system and while only a new member on this site and newb to growing... it seems like the GrowElf system is only getting praise on here from other new members (aka Strangers). Maybe it is a great system? Maybe the guys at GrowElf want to send me a complete system to evaluate and document with pictures through my upcoming grow journal? If not, I think I am going to stick with something that has a few more reviews from some more experienced people.

why in the world would you sell a product with white pots. you will produce massive algee growth and have a very real possibility of ruining your whole crop. and i would think you would at least remove the handels from the paint buckets that are used. Looks very home made.

i can agree to the handles. some times they help in cleaning other times i could rip them off in a rage. i say on there website that the buckets are food grade, UV protected and so far there is no differance to me, its been 2.5 to 3 months. but i do clean and change nutz every week. sorry about the spelling, but my plant dont seem to care.

Dozerman --- I can appreciate your concern about the folks using our systems as being "Strangers" to the site. The only thing I can say is that we have to start somewhere. After months and months of research and development...testing and tweaking, the GrowElf system is finally for sale in the market. I think Ears and Tosar are just excited about the quality and care we've taken in getting them up and running. As far as providing you with a system for review in your upcoming book --- you'll have to contact me directly so we can talk about the details. I'm not closed off to the idea, but would need a firm understanding of what you are trying to undertake.

i also agree the fact that there white buckets and i doubt the light proof so you'll be opening yourself up to bigger problems

MrDuke --- Thank you for raising the issues you have. We really appreciate your thoughts and are 100% open to them helping shape the direction of our products. Our intention is to address some of your concerns in a constructive and considerate manner.

We've gone through a litany of testing during months of product development. We realize using white buckets is something other companies aren't doing. But other companies aren't doing some of the things we're doing. Our buckets are UV rated, food safe, and heavier duty than anything on the market today. We use .90mm buckets while the competition uses .60mm buckets. What's really great about them is that you can see when they are dirty easier compared to black buckets. In any system you are going to have issues with cleanliness. I'm sure I don't have to tell you that it takes diligence and hard work to keep things clean. We recommend to our customers that they clean their buckets at least once a week. Additionally, the controller buckets we were using before developing the GrowElf system were originally black. After months of failures it appears that that company has tweaked things, and in the process has also switched to white controller buckets.

I'm sure you could use our buckets for paint, but we were assured by the manufacturer that their true intention is not for paint --- they aren’t paint buckets. I completely appreciate your thoughts concerning the handles. We've gone back and forth on this and the prevailing thought is that we would rather keep the handles as an option for our customers --- and for the customers who don't like them, they can be removed fairly easily.

Please feel free to email me at [email protected] so I might answer any other questions or concerns you have.

other companies dont use white buckets cuz thru there testing algae and root damage are prone to that, the competition uses .60mm buckets? mine are .80mm?
just because they are uv rated and food safe does not mean much other then a company can buy them and legaly store food product in them, i fail to see where that matters for plant care and health, if yur customers already clean there system once a week why not have light proof black buckets its better healthier and cleaner.

Agreed i have an ebb& gro and never clean my buckets during the grow 2 years with out a problem. What are you sapossed to do with 3' tall bushes when you have to clean your buckets(because they're letting light in and growing algee, any light will promote algee doesnt matter if there 2"thick and uv protected if theres light algee WILL grow.) Honestly I'm not tring to bash you or your product, but I've tried white buckets and in a grow environment they just cause problems. Good luck to you and your venture
