Haze... let's build

I'm trying to get some insight on everyone having "The Real Piff/ Haze". Everyone describes the Haze they had as the best or unfindable. If it came from the same place y so many different descriptions? And y so many crosses if the og Haze is what we all started with. Do you think crossing the Haze is adding to it or taking away? I see the only thing everyone agrees on is the smell "incense" anything after that becomes blurry.... picture of the few I have minus the mango freebies couldn't find package

The reason things get murky is because the line is so damn old. Lots of stories, lots of growers, lots of variety, lots of crosses, lots of he said she said, lots of uncertainty. Add loyalties to certain growers, rivalries, and people forming opinions based on pictures, and it's hard to know what the truth is.

The "originals" require heavy backcrossing to get the older phenotypes. There are so many "polyphenotypes" now where it's say 12 phenotypes crossed into one another 6 times.

To get the "old" genetics you gotta do backcrossing. Maybe contact a company like Barney's Farm or big one like that and ask them for more info.

A good resource for seeing a strains genetic hierarchy is https://seedfinder.eu/

Beautiful man. What strains do you have going there exactly? All but the front right look like an OG Kush structure to me.

Thanks. The front right and to the left are Rogue Mango Series from seed source, the 3 farthest left from top to bottom are BH2.O X Uptown Brown bx, center GTH#1, to the right I have P. Gorilla from in house and top row last 2 are chem 91x chem D from csi

Makes a lot of sense... so what's your opinion? if you don't mind me asking do you think good ole regular haze from todd could be the answer?

Those back ones I was looking at are growing like Chem 91. Sweet man. I'm gonna follow your progress.

I'd turn up that light too if you can.

A little supercropping on those tall stems wouldn't be a bad idea either.

I do think Todd's are legit Original Haze, but I also think you would need to go through a bunch to find something that's absolutely phenomenal. They seem to be almost completely unrefined, and show a lot of variation.

Speaking strictly about the NYC Piff though, I'm with others in the belief that it was probably a Neville's Haze or Northern Lights Haze, as opposed to pure haze. Or maybe even a mix of imports coming into Florida, (Colombian?), if it in fact originated there instead of NY. But with that said, I have found one plant in AG Haze stock that had the frankincense buds. I actually broke down and bought a home church incense kit to once and for all know the frankincense smell, and that one haze absolutely has it.

I had a couple of NL5Haze from Swami that were incensey, but not quite frankincense. Maybe actually a little more like Myrrh than Frankincense... a little darker, more musky, old wood, with a hint of herbal stink, like tea tree oil has.

Piff Coast Farms would probably be good for the genuine Piff, or Top Dawg, but for straight Haze, AG, or Mad Mac would be two to go with. MM uses Positronics Tom Hill Haze, with one cross being to 90's Seedsman O. Haze, who like Todd, got the seeds from Sam Skunkman. Both Seedsmsn and Positronics worked their line more than Todd, so there's probably more consistency there. Just know with Mac, that his pictures are of plants grown under specific conditions. I don't know what the hell he does, but whatever it is, it's the reason for his plants looking the way they do. For me, grown outdoors, AG and MM Haze looked pretty much identical to each other, but neither looked very similar to Mac's pics.

I can't comment on Ace Oldtimers Haze, other than people love it. I haven't gotten to it myself, (yet), but it looks and sounds great.

The things you have though should be great too. Ghost Train Haze is only a fraction pure Haze, but it packs a strong punch. And Bandaid with Uptown should have just as piffy of terps as any other black haze based offering out there right now.

One more place that might be worth looking into, is Mr. Nice auctions. They have Neville's Haze, and a newer thing called Holy Grail, which is supposed to be (Neville's Haze x (NL5/Haze A x Skunk/Haze C)) x Haze C. The problem is, many think Shanti lost the Haze C male some time ago, so there's just more confusion. If you wait it out and play it right though, you can score a great deal with those auctions. It took around a month, but I got pretty much their whole catalogue for around 350 euros. Shipping's a bitch with mr nice, so if you go through them, stock up before you check out. I think you get two months to pay for won auctions.

Would have to agree with this. Good luck getting the whole catalog for 350 Euros though. I saw some Super Silver Haze IBL lots go for more than that price. Shanti's IBL's are highly sought after. That in itself is a sure sign that his work is well respected. You can certainly cover many of the other varieties for that price though. Shipping is 30 Euros and is very reliable. The starting price for the auctions is 12.5 Euros and sometimes they sell for the starting price. The Haze family are 115 Euros to purchase retail. Or usually 60-90 Euros at the auction. Sometimes cheaper but not often. The Auctions are very addictive, as I found much to the detriment of my wallet. Neville's Haze is the one that you want and has the most amount of haze in it, but in my opinion look for 'The Doors' in the rock and roll series. This has Northern Lights 5/Haze//Haze AC. So three quarters haze. That represents the best value for money and may be worth a try. Regularly seen this one go cheap as it is in much less demand. Just my two cents. All the Best.

This is a nice place to view them before entering the auctions themselves.

If I was going to grow a 100% real Haze, I would get it through Authentic Genetics.

And by whats already been stated, you need to go through a bunch of them to find a keeper. Its always been said only around 1 in 10 is a keeper out of real Haze. So Id go through about 30 females myself. At minimum. I also wouldnt use anything less than a 5 gallon container per plant. Theyre going to be in those containers a LONG TIME, and they need root space. The bigger container, the better. I would also bend them over at a young age, and grow them like hedges to use the light more efficiently. I also wouldnt top them. Just bend them over to grow a hedge.

I would also start them on 12/12 to tame them somewhat. They also need the strongest light you can possibly give them. The genetics come from around the equator, where light intensities are through the roof. The UVA/B rate is also through the roof at the equator. Add in high altitude, and you have some extreme conditions. Haaze needs all the light you can give them.
