HEAT SIG, WINDOW CONDENSATION "HELP !!!" - STELTHY :leaf:

Hi, this is the 1st time I've had this problem.. and its mainly or completely because of the hot weather we've been having. Its very very hot during the day (9am to 9pm) however the outside temps drop considerably at night aka 12 midnight onwards.. my plant/s in Flowering period now and the lights are on from 7PM to 7AM [cheaper elec.] .. I try to have my A.C on for a few hours before lights come on but turn it off at 8pm due to neighbours that go to bed early (sound travels).. and so I wait until about 10.30 PM and then leave a window open to help the bedroom cool down.. and draw in cooler air to cool my 530W/730W setup..

But upon awakening this morning I was horrified to see that all the windows in the bedroom were steamed up, and condensated from the outside..

This is a problem because we have a road/street facing room!

I am racking my brains to come up with a solution !!! Has anyone had this problem? and if so how'd you overcome it ??

I pray for an end to this insane hot weather.. But for the time being need a quick but decent fix for the problem.


So RIU I'am calling on everyone who's intelligence and know-how is on top form...

I run an 8" Systemair In-line fan straight into a RHINO 8" Carbon Filter, I have no room to run ducting anyplace else hence the cab is so self contained - STELTHY

Also I avoided exhausting into my un-sealed crappy roof to avoid heat sigs that the Police choppers and FLIR guns could easily pick up on... - STELTHY

If you have condensation on the outside of the window, sounds like you need to close the window then Stealthy?? Hot air is escaping from the room and when it hits the cold air it is forming condensation on the outside of your window (I hope I understand you correctly). So you need to stop that hot air leaving at that window, until the air outside starts to get a bit colder and damper itself. Can you draw air in from that window instead? Which means you would need to push the air out of the room and into the house for the time being through an internal door or wall. I had lots of dew this morning as well on my terrace.

I can close my window.. no problem there.. however I can't draw in any cold air from anywhere else at the moment.. I do run an A.C but its not practical to do so at night.. since we sleep in the same room and it makes a bit of noise (rumbling sound) ... If I tempo. cut down on all my CFL side lighting (310W) for a week or so that could help I suppose ?!! Hmm...

I wonder if there is some kind of spray/liquid etc I could spray on the outside glass of the window that would make the condensation drip off, instead off fogging up ?? That would help! But I dunno if such a thing exists ??

I may have to buy an ultra small/quiet A.C just for night use... More expense eh! ... Man! I drew a diagram ages ago on how I planned to draw air in from the loft space I'll see if I can find it.. Ya reckon maybe that'd help ? - STELTHY

depends on the temp of the incoming air.

I'm no scientist (as will become obvious) but the condensation normally forms on the warm side of the glass, is that right? Therefore your problem is it's warmer outside...?

I live in an old house right next to a lake and this time of year I wake up to lots of condensation as the thick walls seems to store a lot of moisture and so I use a dehumidifier and move it round from room to room and it clears the problem. I've got one of these...

On the other hand your neighbours may just think you are a bit of a stud steaming up the windows every morning

Cheers DST you were right !!... I closed the window and the Condensation disapeared..this morning there was "zero trace/condensation" however our bedroom was a tad on the warm side, Although when I checked in on my cab this morning temps were at 30oC so only a 4oC increase and she seems happy as pie - STELTHY
