Hello!! New to the site and have some questions :)

I'm new to the site, even though I have browsed around before becoming one! Ha ha.
I'm actually looking to start growing. I have checked out the newbie forums and also some other topics I'm interested in. I am wanting to grow outside, and am looking for some advice. This will be my first time growing, ever. Some questions I have would be what seeds do you all recommend purchasing and from where? Also - I need help with starting the seeds out. Should I plant them in a plastic pot and let it root first? Or stick the seeds in the ground with some good fertilizer? - Also, how many seeds should I plant and in what radius should I plant them from each other for the roots? We are past the frost and have a good place to plant a few plants in a wooded area that does get sun. I read that I should possibly test my pH level in the water before hand. I would really appreciate any and all advice!

My outdoors I start in those seedling trays. Remember when you plant them the circumference of each (mature) plant so obviously if you were to have 3 foot wide plants then the spacing would need to be more than 3 foot (1.5 foot each side). Also where I live our tap water is high alkaline so a ph meter is a good investment and I got mine for $15 on ebay. Good luck and remember to post pics for us!

I agree with lesgetcritical, start with seedling trays so you have a good seedling to plant. You can take a small container and put a few cfl bulbs in it to get them started so they have a better chance. The only thing you have to worry about growing outside is if anyone within a mile or so is growing they may have male plants which will completely fuck up your grow because it will polinate your plants and you'll end up with a bunch of seeds instead of a bunch of bud.
