HELP a 1st Grower - 12/12 From seed To Harvest (PICS!)

High Everyone... Thanks for looking at my thread.

This my first grow and at first I wanted to try a 12/12 from seed to harvest, but I decided to let the plants grow a little bit more (like 2 weeks) before putting them under the light on a 12/12 period. I hope to see a second or even third set of leaves within this time.

I am gonna try to grow 2 different strains : White Skunk and Purple Widow.
I already have 2 White skunk which emerged from soil, the 1st one is 3 days old (3.5" tall) and the second one is 2 days old (2" tall). I also named them with GIRLS NAMES (of course), for more luck, according to their strain : Yuki (Snow in Japanese) and Purity. :hump:

The 3 other containers have 2 Purple Widow and another White Skunk, I am patiently waiting for them.

I haven't thought about using any nutrients for their growing period yet. I will get some SuperThrive from a friend tomorrow because many people recommended this to me. I think I will give them 1/3 of the recommended dose first and see how it goes later.

Questions for my fellow growers:
- When should I start feeding them with Superthrive ?
- My equipment is made of a 250w HPS with reflector (inside a small closet with white walls) is it good to start a 12/12 program ?
- Since White Skunk is an early flowering plant does it mean that the flowering period is gonna start earlier than expected ?
- Is SuperThrive enough for a 12/12 light cycle ?
- It seems that the 2 White Skunk seedling are getting more and more taller in just a few days, what are the advantages and inconvenients (does it mean that they're healthy?, risk of getting too tall?)

- Any particular info that I should know about the 2 strains chosen ?

Waiting for the first replies,

Thanks for your help people!!

The plants are not under lights yet.

I follow this advice that I found :
When seedlings have grown their second or third set of serrated leaves (not counting the round cotyledons that initially emerge from the seed) they are usually hardy enough to flourish in direct sunlight or beneath a grow-lamp.

a friend of mine had a the catalogue from sensi seeds and they were telling that you dont put seedlings under the light till they have 2 set of leaves.but this is bullshit,he let them next to the window and they streched really bad.i put them under the light after they come out the soil.thats what you should do.

Damn man, is it possible for me to give them light from my 250w HPS or is it just gonna fry ?
I did not plan any other lights for the moment so I I dont know what to do... :-?

that advice is gonna make you work harder dog.....as for'' superthrive'',i heard its good for things like ''reviving your plants,it says add to fertilizers.....i have a bottle...id rather get some other nutes to tell you the truth..but you should def put those plants closer to that light you have.....if you would have put that plant under your light as soon as it poped out of the dirt, you probably would of had like 4 sets of leaves dog...

Alright then, for the 1st time I'm gonna put the girls under this 250 HPS bulb.

I might need to think about a way to improve fresh air circulation into this small closet because temp is actually higher than expected too. I might keep the door slightly open until I found a solution. :-?

Thanks for the 411 RandyRocket, I already know you lol.
I started reading your "12-12 From Seed To Harvest (1oz honies)" journal 2 weeks ago and it gave me the motivation to start my 1st grow on a 12/12 period !

Thanks again !

I just started the 12/12 light process on the first White Skunk seedlings. I am gonna keep this thread alive with regular pictures of their evolution.

If anybody wants to answer the questions at the beginning or give some good advice about the 12/12 process and nutes FEEL FREE !

High everybody !

As some of you advised me, I put the 2 girls under my 250w HPS for the first time last night.
I have to admit, the development is IMPRESSIVE compared to natural growth.

I will keep the 12/12 period going until the end. I did not use any nutes yet, I received some SuperThrive today so might start it tomorrow. I'll problably feed them this product every 3 dinner.

Any advice on particular nutes that I should use (veg, flowering period)?

I'LL POST SOME PICS TOMORROW !

Here are the first pictures since the 2 seedlings have been under the 250w HPS.
As I told you before, the set of leaves grew pretty fast since the exposure.
It has been 3 days that they are both under light on a 12-12 period.

I think they are doing well so far, I had to put 2 wood sticks on the side of each one of them to keep them up (the leaves are getting too heavy for the stem).

Since I still didnt buy any nutes I am feeding them with a small dose of Superthrive, I wasn't sure but since it's all vitamins and hormones what the hell...

I also add a pic of my small grow room, it's just the HPS lamp, reflector and an air blower at the bottom for air circulation.
Since the lamp is heating like a MF I leave the door open from time to time to let some fresh air get inside.

Any comments about this ?
PEACE OUT !

High Yall,

The plants are still fine, getting greener with the time and a new set of leaves is already appearing.

As for humidity I found out a tip working really well, I put a plate under the plant with some water in it. Since it evaporates slowly because of the HPS bulb, the humidity is fine for the plant.

I might fix the stem with long toothpicks in order to keep it straight, because the leaves are getting heavier.
I'll wait another week before transplanting both.

I'm still feeding them with a small dose of superthrive with water (before and after the light cycle). I might buy a nute today for this growth period.

Here are the pics.

One Hundred ++:mrgreen:

High,

I still didn't buy any nutes today. I didnt have time for it.

One of the 2 girls can finally stand by itself, I hope the second one will follow.

Here is a pic into their grow room.

lst that shit dog, your stems are so long,is the distance from the plant to the light ,how far you keep it with the light on....if so maybe you should think about moving them closer.

Yeah I thought about it but they are still too young for me to LST them. I'll do it when I'll transplant them into bigger pots.
I don't think it's the light though, I messed up at the beginning by not giving them light as soon as they came out of soil. Then they stretched like crazy.

They can't get closer to the light (23 inches at the moment) because I am using a 250w HPS from seedling to harvest, getting them closer will fry them for sure.

High yall,

I finally transplanted the 2 girls in bigger containers, the two of them are fine so far. Since they are growing on a 12/12 period I think it will be the only transfer done.

I had some problems to germinate seeds (1st grow), last night I tried to germinate seeds with another method : The coffee filter method !
I wont start a thread about it because there might already be hundreds but I would like to let everybody know that 100% of the seeds germinated with a long tail in 24-36 hours. Now I got more seedlings coming, more than I planned for the grow room...
