Long time no see RIU, tired of dealing with online support that's been of no help for this.
So here's the deal... I live in a hotel owned by my school and all 3 wifi networks are garbage. (1 is a school secured network, another non secured, and the least crappy one is the free hotel one). I need the extender so I can just plug in anything with an Ethernet cord, unfortunately the room doesn't just have a port.
I bought a Linksys RE3000W, and all the guides on that website have been of no help and their support told me that there is no way to connect the extender without access to the router.... I find that hard to believe, seems like they just don't want you extending your neighbors wifi.
Everytime it almost connects but then I have to manually enter a static IP and subnet and gateway but I couldn't figure out how to do that properly after hours of trying.
So really first question before we get into setting up a static IP and what not: Can you set up an extender without access to the router?
