HELP! do you know what this is??

Hello,

I need your help!

I've got a diy rdwc/ bubbleponics setup going. It's about two weeks old. Aurora Indica from seeds. Straight hydroton, nothing else. GH nutes.

I've studied a lot. I've searched a lot. But I need some experienced growers advice.

My seedlings were going great until about a week ago, when I noticed these brown spots on my leaves. The spots started off small, and are slowly growing and spreading. They started on the oldest leaves first, but are now affecting the newer ones as well.

Yesterday I did a complete res change, dosed the nutes, and ph'ed to about 0.6.

One of the biggest newbie mistakes I've read about is over feeding to the point of nutes burn. So for a while (7-10 days) I only gave them like 1/8th strength nutes. Now they're at about half strength (following the GH directions).

I was thinking that as long as my ph is OK (I check it contantly) then it must me a nute deficiency, right? That's why I strengthened the nutes yesterday after the res change.

From my searching, I think it might be a calcium deficiency? Just my guess. But I could use some advice.

I've done a lot of reading and I think I'm set up for a decent little grow here. I'd be pretty disappointed if my plants die after only a few weeks. So anyone who thinks they might know what this is, please let me know.

Thank you!

Hello everyone, and thanks for the replies. Sorry I didn't get back to you sonner, I was without Internet for a few days. So...the plants actually look like they're doing much better. I guess they just really wanted that flush and some more food. So the brown spots aren't worrying me so much now. Some went away, and the ones that didn't are only on the earliest of the growth. All the newest growth is clear and healthy looking, for the most part.

I do, however, have a new concern. The plant on the left seems to be curling it's leaves in a weird way. Which is odd, because the plant on the right isn't. And they're in the same res. If you look at the pictures, you will see the difference between the two plants. Any ideas? Is this something that I should worry about?

The roots look ok, and I'm keeping a close eye on my ph. I'm not quite sure if I know how to use my ppm reader. Well, let me rephrase, I know how to use it, but not how to interpret the results. This morning, before feeding, my ppm was 83. I'm using bottled water right now, and the waters ppm was like 12 I think (I'll double check). Usually I put my nutes in and give the res like an hour or so, let everything get mixed up, then check my ph and ppm. I know what levels of ph to target, but I'm not clear what ppm level I should be shooting for.

So far, I've been concentrating on keeping the phone correct, and the external environment stable, (lights and temp n shit) and hoping that my plants do well. But I think if I could learn a bit more about my nutes and ppm levels, I could be a better, more confident grower with better plants. So any knowledge suggestions or input is welcome.

Thanks again for the help.

PPM's are only relevant to the Nuts you use. I recommend "EC", as it's universally understood.

Plants look good, other than the old damage seen in the lower leaves.

What version of GH are you using?

I'm using the GH flora trio. Micro, grow and bloom I think they're called. And I am pretty sure lefty is getting enough light. But I've heard that when using cfls, there's really no such thing as too much. So I'll add some more. From the research I've done, it almost looks like lefty is showing signs of overwatering. But it's a rdwc system, so the roots are always in the water. And I have the pump set to go on for 15 mins and then off for 15 mins. So every 15 mins, they get water pumped up for 15 mins. Does that sound like too much? The pump was really only important for the first few weeks until the roots grew down to the water in the res. Do you think I should eliminate the pump from the set up now?

Last question, has anyone here grown aurora indica before?

Thanks guys,

Ff

With RDWC, it wouldn't be overwatering, it's lack of air. I'd (4×) your current air flow as seen in picures. The more the merrier; not that it's the problem.
