HELP!!! First time Female Medical Grower!!!! Anyone using virtual Sun 1000watt???

I am a new grower and have just purchased an Virtual Sun vs1000ds it is 1000watt cool tube with enclosed reflector is this light quality? I had a buddy tell me that they are junk and Hydrofarm is better? I will be growing in soil I have to set up grow in garage tomorrow so any pointers would be greatly appreciated!!!
