Help! gunk on top of water

I am revegging a pant that I have in a 5gal DWC system and I now have a thin film of clear/yellow/brown stuff on the surface of the water.

I still have an air stone in there but I took the water pump out because the roots are well into the water.

Do I need to keep a pump in there to prevent this film build up?

Or does this sound like some sort of other problem?

-Thanks

Change your water immediately and put in new air-stones if they are clogged. You have to have the air-pump hooked up or the plant will die in only a few days. The bubbling is what is providing the oxygen. You should also try to keep the temps lower in the grow area. I don't know why you have a pump in the bucket if you are running a bubble bucket. It should only need an air-pump externally and air stones in the water. These are signs of root rot starting in your bucket. After the water change if things don't clear up you might want to try adding 1/2 tsp per gallon of drugstore hydrogen peroxide to each gallon of water in your bucket. More than likely if the air stones are ok the high temps started this problem.
